I mean you are being really bad here.
Player knows par wins for team. But needs a birdie for individual event and the player decides the safe lag putt for the team event. Nothing has changed there with liv now using all 4 scores

Except adding in another score for increased variance & lower probability of that scenario ever occurring again. So adding in the 4th score does change something

Team score would have been -36 to -31 on 18, so yes it would have resolved the issue.
Ok, so in that specific event, it would’ve changed things.
It doesn’t change anything if a player is in that specific situation again…

It's funny because all of this arguing will be irrelevant when OWGR either caves or they're no longer used to determine eligibility for majors.
They're under the most pressure they've ever been. PGA players, LIV players, media. All saying how useless OWGR are

Fitzpatrick, Xander and Cantlay all have quotes out today shitting on the OWGR. Party is over and the majors are taking notice.

I’m sure they will get a stern memo from Jay tomorrow

21 LIV golfers now committed for International Series Macau 3/14-3/17
Carlos Ortiz won the last event & moved from 1286 to 237

I noticed the #1 player in the world Talor Gooch isn't committed.

Nothing against the guys who chose to play in this event, but Gooch has 2 kids at home (1 newborn). I don’t blame him for wanting to go home after being away for 2 weeks.
He shouldn’t have to fight for OWGR pts to prove he “deserves” to play in majors. He was the best golfer on LIV last season & currently a top 50 golfer by any rankings other than OWGR.

The problem is he’s not fighting at all. He knew what he was walking into and what the possibilities were when he left for LIV.
Niemann went all around the world to play in events because he knew that’s what it would take. Gooch is making outlandish comments and doing nothing to make his situation better with respect to getting major invites.

And neither is LIV now. He doesn’t think he needs OWGR points to prove how good of a player he is.
Nice to see most of professional golfers actually agree with him.
Good for Niemann playing the extra events, but he was doing that bc he felt like he needed to reach top 50 to even get in. I’m not sure that was mathematically even possible for Gooch

Doesn’t mean he’s not a top 50 golfer right now

“The LIV Tour definitely has really good players, and players that are in the top 10 or top 25 in the world, and there's many of ’em. So, they’re just sort of unranked right now, but to me, I do believe they’re definitely top-ranked players in the world.” - Xander Schauffele
“I don’t think the World Rankings are a true representation of the golf game at the minute. I don’t really look at them or pay attention to them anymore. I don’t think they’re right. So I look at @datagolf as a better representation of how people are playing in the world, in my opinion. I don’t think it’s right to not have these players involved in the World Rankings, I mean what’s Dustin Johnson in the world? I don’t even know. What’s Brooks Koepka? I just think that’s the only issue right now with the world golf rankings.” - Matt Fitzpatrick
“I think the World Rankings has a very particular set of criteria and I don't know if broken is the right word, but I think that there's been so much uncertainty and change in the last couple years that it's inevitable that things need to be updated or things need to be changed.” - Patrick Cantlay

They are going to make the move when/if LIV ever gets owgr points.

Actually, in Gooch's case, he probably didn't know what he was walking into. He thought he could play in LIV London and go back to the PGA Tour. He was completely oblivious to how everything was going to work.

OWGR points.
Will be irrelevant soon. As I told Pride yesterday. Somebody smarter than all of us will come up with the formula they use to rank golfers. OWGR points are coming to an end.
But to your specific point, they do get ranked as amateurs, right? So would the team aspect of college golf ruin the amateur rankings?
Posted on 3/6/24 at 11:46 am to BBONDS25
Correct. They’re just gonna have to figure it out.
Taking a firm stand that OWGR in its current form is some perfect metric and all new tours should conform exactly to their system to get ranked is ridiculous.
Likewise, it’s ridiculous to think liv can just start a tour doing what they want, get top players, and automatically be judged according to the current system standard.
This is what change looks like and it takes time to adapt. Which will happen.
