all new tours should conform exactly to their system to get ranked is ridiculous.

But that isn't what OWGR said at all. They said they can adjust to most of it, but the contracts to guarantee spots on tour create a huge problem.

I also don't blame LIV for giving out the contracts to the guys that they gave them to. That is how you are going to attract the names that they did. The issue is you have guys like Ian Poulter taking up spots year after year as they age out of elite golf.

Just to the current system.

Things will change. They always do.

If liv continues to produce good golf, the majors will want to showcase it in their fields. Simple as that.

Taking a firm stand that OWGR in its current form is some perfect metric and all new tours should conform exactly to their system to get ranked is ridiculous. Likewise, it’s ridiculous to think liv can just start a tour doing what they want, get top players, and automatically be judged according to the current system standard. This is what change looks like and it takes time to adapt. Which will happen.

Once the majors allow LIV golfers to be eligible for events based on their rankings (Masters may be first), OWGR will follow suit. It would be a travesty if Niemann did not play in all 4 majors this year. That or LIV should just buy out the DP World Tour to get easy points and stacked events.

Maybe.

To the casual US-based sports fan (living in golf's most lucrative global market), LIV golfers have fallen off the end of the earth. The majors depend on the casual fan. If LIV continues to wither away on tier 3 networks or its own app and further diminish the brand and draw of their golfers, it's hard to see a reason why the majors would even bother to give a damn about them.

LIV is being squeezed on most fronts. The money isn't buying any seat at the table. Hopefully both sides will resolve this soon, the dingbats running both organizations will fall by the wayside, and ALL the golfers can get back in the spotlight.

The majors will lose all credibility and deserve an * next to any tournament that is played where some of the best players are purposely excluded.

The majors will have the one of the strongest fields of the year in each tournament. There might be a few guys who deserve to be there but aren't but not enough to matter overall.
