LIV expected OWGR to act with reason and without bias and they didn't.

Regardless of what LIV is doing, there's a ton of external pressure that will force the OWGR to change or be rendered obsolete.

Thats exactly what they did. Giving LIV points would be acting with bias

Almost seems like Pride called this from day one. I remember him arguing when this all started that LIV would have to change if they wanted OWGR points and not the other way around.

Are there any respected independent rankings/analytics out there like what you have seen with college sports that has developed a good system regardless of tour? Something like Kenpom, etc.?

I don’t know if it is doable, but someone that can create a better ranking system has an opportunity right now.

I would imagine they were told "we're working to get points/we hope to be getting points soon". I mean a guy would have to be a fool to think it was a done deal. Nobody in their right mind would believe that a brand new league that was going against the tour would be getting points right away. I've said from the beginning that I don't think they should be getting points and if they did, it should be a reduced amount. I figured if the tour lasted, it would take a couple years minimum for them to qualify in any way. If they started giving them points in year one or two, then that would probably cause numerous other tours to start popping up wanting the same thing.

I mean it's pretty much impossible to say either way but what why would they not? Seems like they would have exhausted most of their resources before bowing out.

Because getting the points is easy. Every other tour figured it out

Why not? The PGA Tour has essentially locked up 50+ spots in every major with their signature events.
There were 20+ LIV golfers playing in all majors the last two years.
In 2022, there were 30+ LIV golfers in 3 out of 4 majors. 25 at Masters

Any of these 3 seem more accurate than OWGR

Because that’s now how it works

If top 50 or top 75 is a qualifying metric for a major, that’s what you need to get to to make it within that metric

It isn’t “top 50 not counting the guys exempt other ways”

The own metrics you posted also shows 8-10 is the sweet spot for liv players in majors BTW

Going off an accurate top 50 that would put them at 14 golfers in Masters. Well short of the 20+ each in the past 2 years

Datagolf still seems a bit skewed to OWGR/PGA players. Probably due to less events for LIV

poulter, Westwood, Na, Wolff etc shouldn’t be in the masters anymore

Do you think the PGA tour players like Stallings should be in the masters this year?

Oosthuizen
Pereira
Kokrak
Ancer
Varner
Pieters

Probably should be. You could make an argument for a number of LIV guys

LIV needs OWGR, not the other way around. LIV should conform to OWGR standards.

He was top 30 in the standings 2 years ago so he definitely 100% should still be top 30 in the world now
