I was told 14, but once you get over 12, they are fast... it's like the difference between 95 and 97... that's just fast.

Me: Ok, I've got a 15 footer, up hill.. Let's just lag it up there and tap it in and move on. Don't hit it to hard. Soft and easy.

Me watching it roll: Hit a rock, hit the pin, hit a fat kid, hit something.

Me fifteen seconds later: Why the hell did I leave myself a 7 footer, left to right, down hill.

Arcement is legit. Not sure if he’s gained any length since I played with him a few years ago, but he doesn’t miss a shot

The greens didn’t kill me... getting to them did.

How in the hell do we have the state am running the same week as the Southern Am?

Never understood the scheduling....the SGA and LGA need to iron out this crap years in advance. We have a few men that need to be in Baton Rouge instead of at the Southern.

They moved the tournament this year to have BRCC host. Secondly, the ones at the Southern should be there over the state am.

I guess my point is that our state am championship is missing a few of our state’s best players cause they are chasing the Southern Am.

I am all for BRCC hosting - we should probably rotate BRCC, SQ, Southern Trace, Desiard and a couple of New Orleans courses every 5-6 years. BRCC of course is a top 2 course in the state in my opinion.

I doubt they want to host it that often

From what I gather, it isn't the LGA going to other courses over BRCC. It's BRCC choosing not to host, which is their right. I think they hosted this one because it was the 100th Am. They haven't hosted anything since 1968.

I haven't played in a lot of these, but they are doing a damn fine job of hosting, as best as I can tell.

Southern Trace,

Lost the greens but just got a guy from Squire. We'll see if thay turns it around, but we're close to that place being shite.

It's a clubcorp facility. Unless it's one of their elite places like Firestone, they cut the maintenance budget to 0 and milk it for what it's worth. I'd never be a member at a facility like that. Pretty premium dues, nice FnB and shite conditions.

I agree - LGA does a good job - and glad BRCC is hosting the Am. Great setup for 100 years in the capital city.

I concede that scheduling can get tricky with the high level events during the summer.

Just in this state you have a number of men that are going to play or attempt to play in:

State mid am
State am
Southern Am
Magnolia Am
Cotton States
US Mid Am qualifying

That is a heavy load and does not even take into account our junior players and all their events.

John Humphries won the LGA State Am.
Only the 9th Two Time winner in the history of the LGA.

Nugget that is not true at all. Clubcorp puts more back into their courses than any other company. Each year they spend millions on renovations for all courses not just the top ones.

They also routinely see course conditions degrade once they take over minus their absolute top tier clubs.

That's hilarious. Clubcorp will upgrade the food and beverage while not keeping the golf courses up to where they should be. They're all about the bottom line where a member owned club is all about the services

They put money into everything except the course. The only way the course receives money is if they end up seeing a mass exodus with no new members coming in, i.e., Los Colinas CC in Dallas.

Such a mass exodus that Las Colinas offered multiple free months of membership for the lot to stay and they all still left.
