Everything is fricked and Brian Fever Blister is going to take away other great events to put in sterile arse Miami and New York etc

If only we could thanos this and have Phil go to prison with insider trading and nothing ever changes in golf

Calm down brother, this was Tiger’s plan

As a charter member of the Tiger fan club, even I can’t believe those bozos marched him out there. Terrible optics. Great golfer, not so great decision maker. I guess maybe he’s in charge

Ahh yes, selling to the Saudis would have been a great idea. Clearly they would never screw over a golf league

Once the PIF decided they wanted their awful hands on golf, and Phil and Norman gave them the avenue to do so, where we currently are is the best possible outcome

It still sucks it happened, but thank the fricking lord the tour didn’t partner with PIF

The first group Phil partnered with on a proposed world tour were British. When Jay didn’t give them the time of day and refused to make any changes the saudis swooped in and just bankrolled the idea themselves.

Partnering with the Saudis was never considered from either side

Not that Phil isn’t a bad actor, but what your proposing never actually happened

Its better for sure, but still a pretty poor way to determine a “season” champion for golf

Truth is there really is no good way. Not a sport meant for that

And thank god we don’t have a world tour. No clue why any American golf fan would want that over what he had or currently have

Glad Jay said frick off to that. It’s an American tour

You’re really going to hate to learn about the international events they announced today.

Can anyone point to a single league (in the modern era) that left/substantially shifted focus away from it's core demographic in favor of big media markets (NY/Miami/Boston/etc) and come out the other side in a better spot?

It seems like every time this is tried, the core fanbase falls off and isn't even close to being replaced by the new fans they are attempting to capture.

The PGA is trying to commit NASCAR on itself.

Wait you're blaming Phil for this? Could it just be he was right all along?

It's not just Phil, it's LIV as a whole that has caused this. They spent themselves silly to try to fend them off, which they did. Now, not only are they are out of money but sponsors are abandoning them left and right. They are in dire trouble. So, they eliminate half their events and 60 tour cards.

Successful business do not contract. This is contraction, plain and simple.

With 120 players, only between 50 and 60 will make the cut, as opposed to the 75-80 that usually make it, so that's 25 less players they have to pay. Add onto that far fewer events. It's pretty obvious where the savings are. You're paying fewer players fewer times a year.

The chances that this "challenge tour" actually happens is slim. They will struggle to find sponsors for the new tour; there's no way they will be able to find 20 or so sponsors for the minors, especially when they will be doing whatever they can to marginalize that tour in order to promote the big tour. They are trying to create demand, which any marketing person will tell you is a terrible idea.

I just wish they would be honest and admit they have no money and its either this or they go under just like LIV is.

Actually most if not all will remain. Some I expect will be 2nd tour venues.

I really only seriously watch maybe a dozen. Serious being more than the Sunday round.

You probably suck at taking accountability for your actions, don't you? Always a victim, never the culprit.
