How long before LIV golfers beg to come back to PGA?

The Tour has damaged LIV's brand, driven up its costs by hundreds of millions of dollars, and driven down revenues to virtually zero."
the Public Investment Fund spent about $784 million bankrolling the circuit's first season in 2022, including employee salaries, build-outs at tournaments and production costs for broadcasting LIV events on social media and its official website.
total did not include guaranteed, multiyear contracts for players, which might be at least one-third of that. LIV paid as much as $200 million for six-time major champion Phil Mickelson, at least $150 million for Dustin Johnson, more than $125 million for Bryson DeChambeau and at least $100 million for reigning Open Championship winner Cameron Smith.

Watching golf should be on the same level as watching shuffleboard or chess

I honestly think the Saudi’s will go through with it either way. It is not just about it making money. They are trying to create an entire culture and society there with a certain vision. They will continue to bring Al types of things not just pro sports leagues to build a society that offers it all.

I wonder how long the Saudis are going to fund this if it never becomes profitable. I get they want to white-wash their image with this thing but for how long?

Speaking of brand, did you see the Pebble Beach leaderboard when the dust cleared? A real who's who if you follow the Korn Ferry and Asia Tour.

The AT&T is never one of the strongest fields

Rogan podcast basically revealed how RICH the Saudis actually are. Basically something along the lines that since they are some sort of monarchy the Saudi monarchs dont owe any govt info on how much they are worth.
Rogan and his guest speculated that they could possibly be trillionaires

I feel like golf television ratings were at an all time high when Tiger Woods won the 2019 Masters and since then have started going downhill.

I believe they were closest to the highest they’d ever been in the first few events after Covid. But no Tiger is obviously going to make a difference in viewer numbers.

You may want to rethink that.

The Saudis are not investing into sport to make money
It’s a common trend from the Middle East with sport
It’s try and rehab their image and or to be competitive with each other

My buddy who is high up in PGA of America has repeatedly told me the saudis could give two shits about profitability at this time. It’s essentially infinite resources.

It’s eventually going to need to generate more than it currently does otherwise they will pull the plug. It seems like money has really only been going one direction in this thing. The public attention toward the actual product is also pretty cursory as is so it’s not even achieving the sportswashing goal.

Lemme get this straight...
The PIF, which basically has an unlimited supply of money, in YEAR ONE:
Steals many top PGA players.
Manages a successful completion of their global tour
Signs a TV deal
Basically breaks-even
In YEAR ONE?
Yeah, total failure.

Why does anyone assume the numbers furnished as their revenue are the real numbers…
Oil prices have made any money lost seem paltry in reality as they have trillions in oil reserves and borrowing prowess across the financial spectrum
If anything. The pga tour needs to watch their own wallet

I find this extremely difficult to believe
