Some of your most criminally underrated and unappreciated games of all time.

I’ll kick things off with Final Fantasy type-0. I’m speaking of the PS4 remaster never played original psp release. They were smart to package the FF15 demo with its release but it wasn’t enough. There is an INSANE amount of depth in this game. From the number of playable characters (14) who all have move sets and style of play of their own to learn and master. Then to the story and structure which has one of the coolest takes on new game + I’m ever seen basically making two play through a necessary as the second one replaces original missions with ones that let you play out things that happened off screen previously. You get to actually play and control summons in a FF game like Bahamat and Odin. It’s the still to this date only M rated FF property and it is raised up by it. The game feels like it has real stakes and has a clear message, this isn’t your typical final fantasy.

I got a ton of play out of Civilization: Call to Power and it seems like I was the only person who played it.

Time Splitters 2 multiplayer was the absolute bomb. So much fun back in the day.

I never got into Chrono Cross despite loving Chrono Trigger.

The entire XCOM franchise seems underrated and niche, but, IMHO they are some of the greatest games and I go back to play new campaigns in all of them quite often.

Star Tropics (NES).

Thought it played as well as the NES Zeldas and was a first party game. Never understood why they didn’t make a true franchise out of it.

Goblin commander: unleash the horde on ps2, also on the Xbox and gamecube. The proper way to do real-time strategy on a console, would have loved to see it fleshed out with a sequel

I'm obligated to mention one of Curt Schilling's greatest accomplishments every time a thread of this nature comes up:

Ill also throw resonate of fate into this mix. A game so amazing but way before it’s time. If it released today it’s be heralded as the next and newest 120 hour jrpg adventure with turn based tactical combat with guns.

Speaking of ps2 games, when metal gear solid 2demo was put out it was packaged with a game called Zone of Enders. That game frickkng slapped. Robot weapons of war piloted by a person fighting across space and planets.

A remastered edition is available on ps4 and Xbox plus pc called second runners.it’s only like 19.99. Very much recommend

Another kinda unknown game was from the genesis years called General Chaos. You’d command a small army of commandos and battle each other head to head. Was fun as hell.
