With the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as its foundation, Red Dead Online transforms the vast and deeply detailed landscapes, cities, towns, and habitats of Red Dead Redemption 2 into a new, living online world ready to be shared by multiple players. Create and customize your character, tailor your abilities to suit your play style, and head out into a new frontier full of things to experience.

Explore this huge world solo or with friends. Form or join a posse to ride with up to seven players; gather around the fire at your camp; head out hunting or fishing; visit bustling towns; battle enemy gangs and attack their hideouts; hunt for treasure; take on missions and interact with familiar characters from across the five states; or fight against other outlaws in both spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles; compete with other players or whole posses in open world challenges and much more.

don't see the appeal of this at all, too many other better online games vying for attention.

GTAV online I fully understand

Imo it's just a way to keep playing in the awesome world (perhaps the best open world in gaming) that RDR2 gave us.

After I finish my high and low honor playthrough, I won't care about Dutch and the gang anymore.

But I spent a LOT OF TIME already, just exploring, hunting, fishing, breaking horses, cooking, talking to strangers, etc.

To me this is an awesome way of keeping me in that world

Can't wait for this. A posse of 7 can really run shite if you take over a town and hold off other players, lawmen, and town folk

Do you think there we are going to see a Battle Royale online game mode?

With the way games are trending these days it doesn't seem to far fetched.

This. I don't care about doing much competitive stuff, but I will be building my online character and exploring as much as possible.

Looks like I am in the Thursday club. My wife will be out of town for the weekend and my parents are taking the kids. Friday night - Sunday will be all RDO.

Cannot fricking wait.

I wouldn't have agreed with this at first, but after seeing what R* did to the GTA franchise I agree with you. They totally ruined what was a great game by turning it into a online money grab. Everything was a grind to buy their overpriced things which made you buy their shark cards. All the while totally abandoning the single player mode which is what GTA was built on.

If they turn this incredible game into a GTA Online/fortnite shite I will be furious.

Did any of you play the first one's online? I've yet to see anything to indicate it will be astronomically different than that.

I did. It was great, but I think they will go a different direction with this because of how well they did on GTAO. I hope I am wrong but R* is about making money, and GTAO proved that people would buy shark cards at a premium to get access to the additional online content.

I'll be buying some gold bars so I can get a nice horse and once mid or high mid tier gun of each type. I don't give a shite if they want my money. They can have it. This game is a masterpiece and I have disposable income. I am choosing to give them more money to enhance my experience.

I don't NEED warmed seats in my truck, but if I give Ford more money, they will allow me to enhance my experience. Your heater on your truck will eventually warm up your seats and you will still get to drive the same vehicle as me, but I will have a nicer time because I chose to give them more money. Same applies with online gaming IMO.

But what if ford wanted you to pay extra money to be able to haul as much as or drive as fast as the Chevys after you already paid sticker price for your vehicle?

I see both sides of this argument

I guess his argument still stands though. He doesn't want to haul as much or drive as fast as the other cars.

I didn't really play GTAO a bunch but when I did I had a pretty fun time. I never paid extra though.
