No, but about 20 people would have already insulted you and called you, and others like you, the reason our gov't is so damn intrusive in our lives today.

Something I may actually agree with.

Not to get all PT over on the GB, but MS was an OG member of the PRISM program.

And now there will be a live camera always connected to the internet in your damn living room.

ETA: Damn that first sentence

Lol I don't understand. I said I don't do anything illegal the other part I said was basically sorry if you see me having sex type of joke... Why would that make them so mad?

Edit: or is it something else i am missing here?

Yep. Nothing could ever go wrong with that.

Being okay with someone or something always watching you "because you have nothing to hide" is a dangerous mindset.

Why I said I'm putting the damn thing in the drawer. It will be plugged in, but it will not be able to see me or hear me. Hopefully...

Because its your statement that you have no problems being watched since you don't do anything illegal. It is mindsets like that that supported the Patriot Act.

If you haven't been following the news, government-backed programs that invade the privacy of individuals are currently coming to light. It's a pretty huge deal.

It will likely recognize that something is "blocking" the camera and make you fix it before doing anything. Think when your controller dies/gets disconnected in the middle of a game.

A little box pops up and the only way to get rid of it is reconnect the controller or turn off the system.

That makes sense, but it defeats the purpose of needing to have it always on.

I highly doubt you'll be able to just hide it or turn it away. It'll probably require that the kinect recognizes you before you start playing.

Well that makes sense. I honestly never thought of it like that because it is a video game system but I do not support the Patriot Act and value privacy. Maybe I'm just assuming my privacy wouldn't be breached through the kinect but I could be very wrong in this notion.

I find it a bit creepy that you can say "Kinect On" and it turns the console on, so even if the console is off it's still watching and listening to you.

In all honesty, before PRISM and all these phone tapping scandals came to light, I probably would have had the same mindset.

Now, not so much.

Having a camera always on in my living room is just a terrible idea.

Based on the latest is leaks, it's safe to assume everything you do via telephone or internet is at the very least logged.

That would include a webcam that must be on (and likely able to recognize you) to use your Xbox.

I was assuming it was only listening to key words for this but alas it is only an assumption.

I will look into this, I never felt unsafe with my old kinect plugged in watching and listening to me but maybe that wasn't the best idea.

I'm with UltimateHog on this one. The idea creeps me out.

That isn't my only reason for not getting the Xbone, but it is a pretty major part.
