What is the justification for a PS6 to even exist? Typically new consoles are needed because he old ones become outdated, they don't have the horsepower to run modern games anymore.
What exactly does this hypothetically PS6 bring to the table that the PS5 doesn't do? What games are struggling to run on the PS5 such that new hardware is needed?
As I said earlier int his thread,d the PS5 was a massive waste of time and I've been extremely dissatisfied with pretty much every single thing Sony has done the past decade. I will not be getting a PS6. Consoles used to actually being something meaningful to the table, they simply don't anymore.

I have a high level of confidence that GTA6 will be the launch title for the PS6, and it will be a PS6 exclusive.

no built-in disc drive to keep costs down.
If this is the case, I'll be out. The only reason I buy games on console at all is to have physical copies. If they take that away, I won't bother buying another playstation. There's just no point.

My money is on it being a Switch 2 exclusive with a special Mario skin for GTA Online.

Graphical fidelity’s next frontier is path traced lighting. The consoles today have very minimal ability to run any ray tracing, let alone the amount of compute needed to calculate the amount of rays for path traced lighting, plus a denoiser.
Another area current gen consoles lack is access to modern machine learning upscaling and frame gen tech. PS5 pro has pssr, but that still isn’t as good as DLSS or FSR 4.
Next gen consoles will actually allow game devs to not only have great graphical fidelity, but it will be able to actually utilize 4k 120hz TVs (and not look like blurry dogshit)

Ray Tracing and most in-engine tools that suck your PC's horsepower are for lazy developers. Unfortunately, lazy dev is quickly becoming the only kind of dev there is in gaming these days.
4K is another thing. It takes a lot of horsepower to run 4K. It's a misnomer to say that with new hardware, we'll be able to run all games at 4k. We continue to push high quality visuals, and resolution will be the first to go when the consoles can no longer keep up. I expect they will be equipped with quality upscalers to help mitigate this problem, but console is not where you go these days if you enjoy sharp visual presentations.

Prepare for more pretty, dogshit games

Ray tracing sucks and was massively overblown for pure marketing. It's fallen out of favor for a lot of devs the last year or two whether it's half assed implementation or just completely leaving it out at launch to "add later".

Graphical fidelity’s next frontier
It's certainly possible that I'm way out of touch with the yoots, but I can honestly say I do not care a single bit about "graphical fidelity" in games at this point.
I can't remember the last time a game's graphics or visual fidelity influenced my decision to purchase it at all. I think you gotta go back to the PS2 era to find a time when graphics were still moving the needle for me.

There is one thing that is undeniable. Gamers vastly prefer gaming at higher FPS if given the option. And even to your point, most gamers will sacrifice visuals to get a game running at a stable 60 FPS over a very nice looking 30 FPS.
Next gen will raise the baseline to 60 FPS for most/all games and the “performance” mode will push games to 100+ FPS at 4k. Games will also happen to also look better.
