Just said frick it and bought the game through Amazon Prime. Only $51 and I used like 7K of my AMEX points to just buy the game for free.

We'll see how this goes.

My first planet was a hot barren shithoke with next to no plant or wildlife. I couldn't stay on the surface very long during the day but there are all these amazing looking caves with multicolored crystals and little slime looking things hopping around. At night, the whole planet turns purple.

My home planet is a lush tropical paradise with weather: damp. I ran into some crazy creatures looking for stuff to recharge my ship. I repaired the ship but didnt get to charge it yet (looking for plutonium) and I've already played 3 hours just wandering around this amazing planet.

This is a whole new type of game, I can't even imagine when I get my ship in the air.

I had to go back to work, and I'll say this is going to be the most grueling 4 hours left of work today, I will NOT sleep tonight, confirmed.

I spent $60 on Adderall XR alone yesterday when I decided to buy this game

I think that's the best part of the game. No two players have the same experience.

Can you name the planets you find?

I kind of want to put my email address as my planet names so maybe if someone happens to find one they can tell me.

I assumed it was a single player universe, does everyone play in the same universe and you can run into other players?

yep. Once you are satisfied with the number of things you've discovered you can go into the database and change the name of the planet and upload it, getting credits along the way for doing it

Possible, but unlikely.

Oh really? I thought you had a very slim chance of running into someone else. Bummer.

They have systems coded for the occurance. You can run into other players but would really have no idea that they were another player unless you watched them and you crouched to communicate or something. When two players are near each other technically NMS puts them into a "lobby" so they can actually be in the same space at the same time.

Before the huge update this was still thought to be impossible. Now that Hello Games added ways to discover WHERE other people have discovered things the odds go up a bit.

Do we know how well it'll play on older/lower end PCs?

Specifically an i5 2500k and a 7950?

Also, is this something I can play and explore with some friends, or is it purely solo?

I did the same thing. I was on the hype train, then with the leaks I got off the hype train, but I said screw it. I had some amazon gift cards so I used those to pick the game up. At worst it should be a good time killer for when I want a relaxing night of gaming.

It's solo basically. No idea about your computer specs.

Minimum spec is a 6950 and an i3 530 so should be fine.

Not sure if everyone has the same "alien", but I've learned about 75 words of the Korvax. Finally found a trader I could communicate with...at least somewhat.

In the same place as the trader, I found a gun that's way better than what I had, so I swapped it out. Gives you way more upgrade slots. I'm on my way to a crashed ship now. I found one before and apparently I could have swapped out spaceships, but it requires you to look for the necessary resources to repair it again. I passed the first time. Might do it this time if it has more inventory slots.

Every time I want to take a break, I think to myself, "I'll just check that one spot then I'll stop." Three hours later...still playing. I've been naming all my worlds after MGS characters in the system "Outer Heaven".

The exploration is so much fun, just wish the resource gathering/management was better.

I also want to give a shoutout to 65 days of static for the amazing soundtrack, procedural generated as well.

That's a shame. Was hoping I could jump on and do some exploring with some friends
