I've never played a Fallout game before, but I just bought the Fallout 4 Xbox One bundle along with Arkham Knight and Shadow of Mordor. Being a huge LOTR fan and a fan of the Arkham series, I think I'm going to play through both of those before I get to Fallout 4.
My bundle came with Fallout 3 and 4. Should I play through 3 before I get to 4, or does it not matter?

Now animals and sentry bots are another story. That shite is frustrating as hell. Maybe it's because I'm only level 9 but everything feels so OP. I get one shot by bears that are twice as fast as me and the sentry bots are like twin turbo tanks.
seems like they're lifelike

I finally had an incident of one of my settlers stealing my power armor. I guess I give her guard duty, so she figures she can just hijack my armor.
I thought I was going to have to kill her or pickpocket the fusion core, but I tried to talk to her first. No conversation choices came up, just "I need you to get out of the power armor". Like a boss! She jumped right out
And I did nothing last night except build. I had outgrown my Sanctuary base (i.e too many power armors), so wanted to build a new settlement at the drive in. 1) It's bullshite that I have to pack mule all my junk from one workshop to the other. 2) I never realized how important all those pencils and battered clipboards I skipped were until trying to fence in the drive-in and build a 4 story compound for myself. I've just left soooo much wood out there, and I really could have used it last night.
And that little puddle in the middle on the drive-in can support 4 water purifiers. Seems legit!

Does anyone say anything interesting in this game? I'm actually fine with it if they don't. I hater when games make me talk to everyone.
quests and backstory
I like learning about both

Wait until you find the asshats trying to sell you insurance or an alt form of currency.

So what is the point of building up a settlement?

What are you doing with your life?

You can get supplies and caps from it if you provide for your settlers, make them happy, and get them to work for you. Also just a different version of Fallout Shelter.
My people in Sanctuary are on their own. I really can't be bothered.
ETA Maybe in a second playthrough I'll mess around with it more.

You don't have to play 3. This is my first Fallout game also.

take the fusion cores out when youre not using

Does it use the fusion core's power if they take the power armor?
Posted on 11/20/15 at 11:22 am to Scruffy
No. Settlers won't, but companions will.
Same with ammo. Give the settlers you assign as guards a legit weapon with 1 ammo casing and it will last them forever.

supply lines will allow all your materials from all your settlements to be available at every workbench in all your settlements
under charisma, believe it's called the vocal leader perk

shite...I knew that was possible. I have local leader, but forgot to establish the supply line. That's why it didn't work.
Thanks.
Thanks.
