This is probably the first generation I don't own a second "classic" console for this very reason. The only thing you can't get on a PC, outside of the obvious Nintendo titles, are the first and second part Sony and MS titles which aren't really all THAT great. Certainly not worth the purchase.
Funny enough, it's the one where Nintendo apparently "failed," but the market has shifted enough not to require another console.

I love my Wii U. Oh well.
This... just release a new Zelda and Smash then the people will come. If not frick em, the majority of gamers have shitty taste anyways.

You're about as delusional as Nintendo.

The lack of Smash, Mariokart, and Zelda is holding me back for the time being. I doubt I'm alone on this.

All they are doing with this mentality is swaying the old crowd, but even they are kind of meh now, especially when there is so much more out there for gaming.
And the new gamers don't have that nostalgia to sway them.

Yep, same for everyone.
WiiU = Hyrule Portal
3DS = Pokemon Machine

No he isn't, much less spot on.

Obviously I am saying this because I'm selfish, but they should turn there console division into a 3rd party software group so they can release high quality graphics games onto the xb1 and ps4

If these titles are the only thing that will save this console, pull the plug. The big issue isn't the lack of these games. It's the 3rd party developers who won't touch it.

If first party titles are the problem (titles everyone is talking about), then pull the plug because third parties won't touch it? That makes no sense.
Clearly the general consensus is if Nintendo gave players:
Zelda
Kart
Smash
And Maybe a Starfox or F-Zero or something, everyone is saying they would buy one.
The right answer is to.....
Release VC versions of those very excellent old games, hire some good staff or use a really good second party, and get these HD games into production. People will flock. Nintendo survived on first parties before, I think they'd be fine with a different approach to the VC.
Nintendo runs this really weird line. On one hand, they say they don't want to flood the market or whore out their old games. They want more control over them...fine. On the other, they release Mario game after Mario game...flooding the market with various forms of Mario. While those games are good and often great, it makes little sense to a Westerner to sit on something successful, like the VC catalog and properties who are primed to sell well. It's the Japanese, can't really understand their choices sometimes.
And NoA sucks, let's bring that back up. Reggie needs to go.

The problem is that the Gamecube had all of those things and even greater 3rd party support and an attractive price tag.
The Wii U may not even outdo the Gamecube. More of classic Nintendo franchises will not save the Wii U. Those are not what pushed the Wii.

I didn't say they were the problem, but if it's all you have to hang your hat on and they are probably not even close to completion (if even started), you have big issues.

Who here owns a WiiU?
I know everyone will say...
Release a Smash or Zelda, then we'll buy; but who currently owns the console?
