I argued this exact point in the pre-release threads. You could see it coming from a mile away. How Nintendo didn't is beyond me. You have people on staff that are paid to address concerns like that.

Or they did and were just stubborn. I feel like that's a more likely answer.

They are stubborn for the good......and the bad.

Whatever module they are using the forecast cost and gains must be junk, or they reported false numbers.

No way their estimates could have been that far off.

Sadly Metriod might be done for a while after Other M.

I feel like Zelda and Smash Bros atributed to a lot of NA sales for adults. The lack of any gimmick like with the last Wii and a tiny little library and ppl's addiction to smart phone games left this console to die.

They might need to remake another one of these. Have the secret unreleased game in the movie be a new Zelda instead of Mario 3.

That might bring it back to the forefront of youths.

Did anyone bring up the fact that Nintendo said they might be interested in "mobile"(smart phone) games?

Something else I don't care about.

Thanks, Reggie.

Rumors are just rumors at this point. Someone has also implied from talks that they are interested in freemium models too.

Neither would be "Nintendo"-like though. Mobile games would kill the one thing that is a success right now, that would make no sense. And games like platformers, as they are, are hard to play on mobile devices.

Same here, I hate cell phone games.

My concern is if they start to license cell phone games it will kill the 3DS which is their strongest area. The damn thing is loaded with a solid library of games with unique gaming experiences.

Understand.

Im trying to find the damn article where I read someone from Nintendo "unofficial" saying it might be a direction they will look into.

I know that means all kinds of thing but, Nintendo has always firmly stood their ground about NOT licensing their games to Andriod/iOS users.

This is kind of why I think this is a BS rumor or Nintendo has officially lost their minds. 3DS is the only thing going for them.

Yeah I've seen it a few places, it's out there somewhere.

Yup. They need to weather the storm and prep for he next gen, not freak out and change their business models.

Put some research dollars into a better platform, figure out a storage medium that works, and create a unique system that can bridge the casual and hardcore. That can be their territory. They used to own it, now they don't.

I believe more research should go into the 3DS.

Updated graphics on a 2yr refresh cycle doesn't seem silly on a handheld like that. Same case and body, just a refreshed SoC.

That could attract hardcore gamers. Now that is just one idea that I would personally like to see.

They need to just focus on making games. I would buy a Mario game immediately if they made one for XBone.

Who wouldn't, their games are all fckking amazingly fun.

I just purchased Luigi's Mansion, Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros 2 and Mario & Luigi Dream Team for the 3DS. Each game is unique and just "fun"; it feels like what video games are supposed to be like. Sometimes video games get a little "too real" and they aren't as enjoyable.

Saying all that, those Marios are far from the better titles like Zelda LBW and OoT, Pokemon X/Y, Fire Emblem. Kid Icarus and Monster Hunter also have crazy good reviews.

Again, Nintendo doesn't do this. When they do, you won't be getting the Mario game you think you would get. For Nintendo, making their A games for another console would be failure. They wouldn't be the same company anymore, and you probably wouldn't want to buy the game anymore.

If you really want to support Mario games, do it on their terms. It's what makes them great, and makes those Mario games so good.

The paradox in this, especially for the last few generations, is that Nintendo makes hardware to support Nintendo's game ideas. They don't make hardware for third parties (and yes that's a problem), but philosophically it has worked, at least for their first party efforts. But you have to have 3rd party games now to compete, and this generation is going to be big proof of that.

Well that's a shame. I guess I've already made my decision. I like Nintendo's games but not enough to forego the excellent 3rd party games that I get from the major consoles.

PC(Steam Box) + WiiU + 3DS could give you whats needed.

When they eventually slash their prices, I might look in to getting one.
