It's amazing how out of touch triple a gaming studios are. you can see the clearly see the decline over the past decade.
The actual game developers have much less input, the corporate suits and the "creative" they/thems having much more.
Sadly I don't see it getting better. Need new smaller, private studios to arise again that are run by gamers, for gamers.

After the Ubi devs leaned into their promotion of a new and dynamic same sex romance choices for Yasuke was the moment the project truly jumped the rails. They can’t ditch Yasuke, but I’m confident they’re quietly using the additional time to removing his ability to seduce any of Japan’s most revered feudal lords.

I wouldn't doubt that's it. You've had the option to seduce whoever you want in Odyssey and Valhalla, regardless if your character was male or female, so I bet someone realized that and "wait.........no..........what?"

I'll keep saying it, Ubisoft was playing the DEI card and it's hilarious watching them suffer. Yasuke wasn't a Samurai, well never be a Samurai, and no revisionist history idiot is going to change that.

I'm not going to complain about a lack of historical accuracy. Feels like they gradually got away from that as the series went along.

This game was destined to fail the moment the main character was green lit. Everyone at the top is to blame and now they are scrambling to find the best solution no doubt.
Which is hilarious because all it took to avoid this disaster was for a higher up to say a powerful two letter word….”No.”
The worst that would have happened would have been some they/them dev leaking the decision to make the MC Japanese on X. A couple hundred of idiots would rage and boycott the game while thousands would have defended the decision and bought it.
How these people get paid the amount of money they do to make business decisions like this is mind blowing.
If it isn’t over for Ubisoft, it should be over for many in that corporation.
