I think this game looks pretty damn good myself.
This new video of the parkour is light years better than what they showed a year ago. LINK
They have clearly made big strides and the comments on the video are all saying the same thing despite the Ubi hate. I was surprised at just how much praise it got.

To be clear, there is absolutely zero chance this game fails. And I mean literally zero.
AC Valhalla made over $1 billion in revenue and this game will absolutely top that.
I'll be buying a month of Ubi+ on PC and playing as main character Naoe.

During a call with investors following the announcement (via GamesRadar), Ubisoft responded to reports of buyout discussions with Tencent.
"We won't comment on specific rumours that we've seen in the market," said CFO Frederick Duguet. "We will inform the market if and when a transaction materialises."
Ubisoft said it will continue to undertake cost reductions and be "highly selective" regarding investments. It is expecting a "€200 million reduction of its fixed cost base."
Just didn’t sound like a company that’s expecting 1 billion in revenue from this game.
Sounds more like a company that’s trying to get off a sinking ship.

Are you being sarcastic? Ubisoft just shut down Xdefiant after 1 year, Outlaws just tanked, Skull and Bones lost multiple hundreds of millions of dollars after a 10 year development cycle, and Ubisoft's share price has dropped like 85% and is now around 3 dollars.
They're facing bankruptcy or being sold.
They're obviously worried about it failing, seeing as they've now delayed it multiple times.

Mirage has come out since and no one noticed. It made a quarter of Valhalla at $250 mil.

Mirage was an AC1/AC2 short game (originally a DLC) throwback for the fans and cost $39.99. $250m revenue for a DLC is fantastic.

This has absolutely nothing to do with what will be the biggest AC game in a decade.

You're kidding right? You think this is why the majority of games nowadays get delayed? Wut?

I read this thread and kept up with it. I played the shite out of Odyssey and Valhalla. I am pumped for Shadows. I don't care if the Samurai is supposed to be black or not. Nor do I care if Japan is happy with the history shown in video game. Its an AC game, it looks like my style and I will buy.

Yeah there are some seriously out of touch people in this thread.

One of the two sides certainly is. Will just have to see.

Yes it does. It's being made by the same company that is currently on life support because of how many failed games they're putting out.

These delays are not the same as other games. This has gotten delayed multiple times because if it fails, the entire company goes under. They've had to put out multiple press releases responding to backlash, apologizing to the Japanese people, and promising to polish the game more because people commented how unfinished it looked.
I'm sure they've polished it up a bit, but it'll have to make a ridiculous profit to be a success because without that money, they go under.

No it doesn't.

Every game gets delayed for polishing and extra dev time. Recent games that didn't get delayed have had disastrous launches so most people actually praise these delays anymore. This is completely normal in the gaming industry.

This game will do better than Valhalla. AC is still very popular and this setting has been asked for by AC fans for 15 years. It's going to be crazy popular even with fans that haven't played AC for a few games.

How do you think it'll do compared to Origins and Odyssey?
I recently finished the main game for Origins (loved most of it, but hated where the story went between Bayek and Aya), and just started The Hidden Ones DLC. Will eventually play Odyssey after a break from AC games, but I'm not really interested in the settings of Valhalla or Shadows.

Those games made $350M ($450M today) and $415M ($534M today) each so Shadows will beat them both combined on revenue even with inflation factored in. Valhalla's $1B+ will be the closest to Shadows.

Do you think they are looking to get acquired because they know they are sitting on a gold mine with shadows?
Posted on 1/10/25 at 11:38 am to Blitzed
Yes, it is very good leverage for a deal to get done.

And they got it. It’s called Ghost of Tsushima.
