IGN is doing a list of 100 best PlayStation games of all time

Currently have done 100-21 and revealing the top 20 tomorrow. The top 10 is going to be pretty interesting especially the top 5. Regardless of what happens the internet will complain

Did Sony need some good press so they paid them to come up with this list? Why would you do just Sony games?

Guarantee they put The Last of Us 2 at number 1

Uncharted 2 was always my GOAT of that series, glad to see it at #8 and tops in the series. TLOU would be my #1 though with God of War #2, MGS is too old for me to really remember it well.

Been playing sekiro the past few nights and it’s great and all…as well as all other of Fromsofts works but…..
Y’all know Bloodborne just hits different. It’s better than Elden ring and I love Elden ring. It just is and that’s okay and I think we should really acknowledge this simple fact because we need some sort of follow up. Remaster/remake/pt 2 idgaf.

Witcher 3 should be top 10
Also shocked they don’t have San Andreas in the top 10. It normally always makes these top game lists

I know Suikoden II was midway down the list, but I'm kind of surprised Suikoden I wasn't somewhere in the top 10-15. That's one if my personal goats.

Like with all subjective "top X" lists there's obviously going to be a lot of really ridiculous stuff to laugh at, but what gets me is the they don't even limit it to exclusive or mostly exclusive PS titles which renders the entire thing rather pointless.
I mean Doom Eternal? Yeah it's a great game. Thing is, Doom is primarily a PC franchise and always has been. Was this game on PlayStation systems too? Sure. It was also on Xbox and Switch and PC.
Hotline Miami? Rocket League? Destiny? Witcher 3? Elden Ring? Seriously? Those are "Playstation" games? Why not claim Chrono Trigger while you are at it. It had a re-release on PS1.
Kinda weird they limited it to MOSTLY PS exclusive titles (or titles you would definitely associate with PS) but then threw in a bunch of obvious cross-platform games that nobody would consider "PlayStation" games. Just great games that happened to also appear on PS consoles. Seems like they were trying to pad the list.
Probably would have been better off limiting it to the top 50 and made it far more strict about what exactly a PS title is.
But it's IGN so no surprise it's a cluster. It's actually not nearly as bad as I would have assumed.
And yes, it's probably just an ad they were paid to make.
