I really don’t get the pearl clutching over female characters specifically in the Halo series, which arguably is the most egalitarian series from the very beginning. Cortana herself was a girlboss who often made sarcastic or nagging comments at chief, and no one cared or said shite about that.

Cortana/Halsey, foe hammer, Miranda keys, Kat in Reach.. were these all woke girl boss characters?

In Halo 2 there was a random marine that fought alongside chief voice acted by Michelle Rodriguez and David Cross also voiced a marine but they made him a little bitch boy in comparison, but no one at the time cared and thought it was funny.

I get 343 is a dogshit studio and Xbox would be smart to put Halo in hands that actually understand the series and what fans want, but crying over a single female character for simply existing makes you just as annoying as the woke trannies that cry that there isn’t enough LGBTQ representation in every game. There is a way to critique a game and characters that isn’t just “woke girlboss bad!!!”

No one complained when there were females in the original release.

They were simply part of the story.

Had they simply updated the original game with better graphics, I doubt anyone would have cared.

Who was the new character even added for?

Woke girlboss is bad, though.

It is poor writing and character design.

It, IMO, is the most simplistic of character designs, the bottom of the barrel.

As stupid as it may sound to you, I was considering purchasing this game up until I saw the video above.

My reasons are more in regards to any change to previous renditions. I am a stickler for maintaining the story, lore, and characters exactly as originally intended in the vast majority of media.

The addition of annoying characters simply adds to that.

I’ll stick with playing the originals that I still have on physical media.

As an aside, when did the “ODST hates the Spartans” lore become a thing? I don’t recall that in any previous games or the animated show. There was no hint of that in the Halo: ODST game (incredibly underrated) and definitely no hint of that in the original trilogy.

Even at the start of the Halo series, MC was shown respect by pretty much every soldier you cross. He is a legend, a mythical creature.

I guess it could be a factor later on when they can mass produce them, but, in the beginning, Spartans weren’t common at all. There was zero reason for any animosity.

There were only 75 original Spartans and by the time of Halo: CE, there were only about 33 left alive.

There weren’t even enough Spartans for ODSTs to even know they existed. There were about 40 billion humans across the human empire, with about 10-20 million soldiers.

On the high end, they made up .00033% of the human military force at the time of CE.

They were rare as frick.

They were also, initially, top secret. The VAST majority of ODSTs would never have seen one.

Even with the propaganda, people didn’t believe they were real.

That is a pretty stupid addition, IMO.

FWIW ..She is only in the bonus missions. She is not in the traditional part of the CE story.

Probably when young freshly augmented John117 killed two ODST and severely crippled two of them in like 10 seconds during a little scuffle at a training camp. Even though ONI brass set up the confrontation to test young Jonn 's mettle they were taken off guard by the damage he inflicted on those ODSTs so they CYA themselves and just blamed the young Spartan. Many ODST considered them freaks from then on out.

ONI also heavily utilized the Spartans for war public relations, like you said , turning them into mythical, unkillable heroes. The ODSTs deeply resented that their own massive sacrifices and high casualty rates were constantly overshadowed by a handful of armored supersoldiers.

I dont remember this ODST vs Spartan animosity as part of the lore in the games at all but its touched upon over and over again in the novels...The Fall of Reach, The Flood, and Silent Storm

The only joke is that video whining about some random arse chick addition that's in a few cut scenes.

Now charging full price for a remake that could be seen as complaint worthy

Also the lack of any sort of PvP is pretty weak, thankfully it's free on GamePass

There is no reason to do it. No reason to insert box checker purple woman in the game.

I guess you are part of the "modern audience" that enjoys that sort of thing.

Most do not care. It is a group that believes everything online is the truth outside of it. We will look back at this in 10-15 years and we will know that being terminally online will be a well known mental sickness.
