Anyone knows damn well that rockstar could put the game on a disc.
This is them being a greedy corporation and wanting to maximize as much profit as possible while cutting costs, all while making you have to pay real money if you want to enter a fricking store in the game.
The video game industry has been soul less and passion deprived since COVID. No company wants to make games for the players anymore. It’s all about profit now

People literally stole physical copies of AC Shadows and leaked it. You don't think GTA with all of the leak insanity it has dealt with over the past years is not at least cognizant of that?
They obviously are going to double dip on selling physical copies which sucks. I'm not saying this is good. Merely they have been given a legitimate concern and are naturally taking it

1. Based on the size, it would likely take two discs for the full game before any updates/dlc.
2. Asset streaming from a modern m.2 ssd is SIGNIFICANTLY faster than from optical discs. They probably made the decision long ago that a disc experience would be severely compromised for what they were trying to do and decided to axe it.
