This picture is from March of this year. She has more in common with the original picture I posted than the character in the game. They intentionally made her look worse.

Actual Norse mythology leans into the fact that Thor is a drunkard and a glutton. You wanted a six pack, gay boy?

I can never keep up with the gaming board's expectations. Some hate women so much that I figured this is all they want

His look wasn't the biggest thing (nothing I searched from old depictions of Thor indicate he was a fatty), and I know they used American actors for a lot of the roles, was just surprised by that direction for the VA.

Thor in the original Norse is not really described beyond having red hair, stout, and strong. Take that how you will.

It's time for some real talk, the God of War Norse era is just boring and pales in comparison to the Greek era, not even close. I can't htink of a franchise that squandered so much potential so quickly.
The first Norse game set it up to be quite interesting, it had a lot of potential with the new setting and gameplay mechanics. There's a world where GoW2018 actually relaunched the franchise in a direction that re-invigorated it, as many at the time predicted.
However that didn't happen. Everything after the first game has been failure.
The gameplay isn't interesting or compelling for an action game it's a little awkward and stiff, the story and characters suck, it's boring. The only positive thing you can say about the Norse era games are they have great production values. Beyond that they bring nothing to the table.
They wanted to make movies with these C tier characters and plotlines and the games fell apart. The Greek era games were games first and foremost, which is why they are fun.

Disagree with all of that

You talking about the God of War game that was the fastest selling first party launch in Playstation history and winner of 100s of industry awards?
If you call that failure I'd like to see how you define success.

I mean, I wouldn't want to have to program the physics on those things...

Not a failure, but Ragnarok was a huge step backwards from GoW
Story was boring and dumb

God of War Ragnarök has sold over 15 million copies worldwide across PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 as of November 2023. This milestone solidified it as the fastest-selling first-party launch in PlayStation history, quickly surpassing the 11 million units it achieved in its first 10 weeks on the market.

It's amazing how intentionally dense people are. Plenty of products succeed commercially based on expectations, hype, past IP success, brand loyalty, whatever (see the Star Wars sequels) but fail to actually deliver.
The original launch of Cyberpunk 2077 sold crazy good as well, and that game was a complete clusterfrick.
After GoW2018 I was very invested in the GoW franchise, after Ragarok I was not. Every aspect of the game was disappointing. I've seen Santa Monica Studios vision for how they wanna make games from now on and I'm not impressed or interested.

I mean, if you completely ignore all the critical succes then that does just leave the commercial success I guess....

I always use Kid Rock as an example of "sometimes shite still sells", but a game doesn't sell that many copies if it was widely regarded as garbage. I don't think it's as good as the first one (a lot to live up to after the series was revived), but it was still a good game I really enjoyed.
Tyr looking at that mural and saying "she lied" is one of my favorite moments in a game in recent memory.....when you know the context.

If you are a follow up to wildly successful game, just like a new entry of a franchise, you get a huge head start
I loved GoW.
Ragnarok felt like a rehash, but with a dull story
Rehash isn't necessarily bad, but halfway through I was realizing I was going through the motions . . .annoyed at almost every cutscene

Star Wars and Captain Marvel are bad examples. The first ones made a lot of money due to hype but the sequels all did progressively worse because the fans hated it. Ragnarok was still a massive success financially.
