94 and 8.3 on metacritic.
I get how some people feel about it, is it's not your cup of tea it is what it is, but some here (not necessarily you) painting it as a disaster is disingenuous.

I think this game is gonna be pretty good, but I’d expect it to be closer to Spiderman: Miles Morales than a main line game.
Hopefully it fleshes out the character and gives us glimpses of where the series as a whole will progress over the next few years.

Star Wars and Captain Marvel are bad examples. The first ones made a lot of money due to hype but the sequels all did progressively worse because the fans hated it. Ragnarok was still a massive success financially.
Also pretty dumb to compare a 2 hour movie to a 40+ hour game. People didnt complete the entire game because they liked the one before it. Ragnarok was loved by most players. The only real people I saw complaining were people that didnt like playing as Atreus

He didnt like it, so it wasnt successful. Like many posters here, his world is the most important world and nothing else matters.

Easily
Matched only by "calling out my engaging in culture war propaganda, means only you are engaging in the culture war."

Anyone who thinks Ragnarok was satisfying or well-written is suffering cognitive dissonance or they just don't have a fundamental understanding of what good writing is. It's as simple as that
Ragnarok was well-made, highly polished, and had the Sony Spectacle moments that people eat up. Games like that will always review and sell well just because most of what we get from AAA these days is shite
Ragnarok is Top 3 biggest gaming disappointments of my life. Cory would never admit it, but he has to be sick to his stomach with how the story played out and how ignored or brushed aside all the shite he so deftly set up in 2018.

Sorry you’re a pussy though

I mean, exactly. Poorly written tripe, but we have to treat it like perfection because some people don't like that a girl is featured in this game?
The thought that people went to TLJ because of TFA. . .but not that people bought Ragnarok because they liked GoW.

That is your definition of a "fat neck beard"

The only thing I know about you, is that you think people are fat neckbeards and pussies for disliking games you like.
Like you just can't grasp that thought. . .

In 2018, I was waiting anxiously for every single cutscene and dialogue exchange because I just couldnt wait to see what great lines were coming next
In Ragnarok, it was the opposite. I'm having to listen to this talking frickin squirrel endlessly quip like something out of Guardians of the Galaxy. When you see that the Borderlands 2 writer was one of the writing leads, it all makes sense. There's nothing godly or epic about the way the characters speak, just non-stop one liners. The only remotely well-written scenes were Mimir's boat stories
Then you have:
- The utterly pointless Tyr twist
- The utterly pointless mask mcguffin
- Freya changing her mind in 5 seconds
- Ragnarok lasting 45min and consisting of a corridor fight sequence against regular Einerjar mooks while all the cool shite happens in the background
- Never find out who blew the horn (let me guess, it's gonna be Faye now)
- Freya's ominous Bridge of the Damned warning and Kratos' death prophecy in 2018 are utterly pointless and disregarded
- Garbage pacing (the dogshit Ironwood section is longer than Ragnarok itself)
There's not a single bold narrative choice in the game's entirety. You could really feel the spots where they compressed things when they decided to go from 3 games to 2, like when the big dude in Vanaheim jumps off the flying boat to sacrifice himself. They do this slow closeup on him brooding with the music and it's this whole ridiculous ordeal, meanwhile you're thinking "I just met this guy 5 minutes ago"
It's clear he was going to be much more fleshed out originally.
In God of War 2, Kratos has to murder the sisters of fate to change his fate. In this, they're like "prophecy doesnt define us, it doesnt matter." Pretty big microcosm of where things went wrong.
Almost every fan theory that was made between 2018 and Ragnarok is better than what we actually got.
Like I said, it's not a bad game. It's polished, mechanically sound, has good performances, etc. But it could've been so much more
