Got the game installed and ready to go, but wasn't able to play any last night. I'm hoping to get some good time in this weekend.

consider me shocked that we haven't heard from td012 about his 4 completed playthroughs complete with detailed spoilers that aren't spoilers

There's a few things you can get for just having a save file on the first game, but the character levels and equipment and stuff is brand new.

Thankfully I completed my last whole Remake playthrough using only the fully upgraded Buster Sword, so starting off Rebirth with that weapon felt natural.

I do very much miss Barrett's EKG Cannon though... And my 2,000,000 gil. I left Midgar with more gil than Shinra and an entire inventory full of dozens of fully upgraded materia and weapons, yet somehow ended up in Kalm with pocket change and an empty inventory. I'm left to assume that Chocobo Bill's payment for the ride to Kalm was exorbitant.

As a complete digress, Red XIII is an absolute blast to control in combat.

10 hour playtime. Still in chapter 2 grasslands.

It’s wild…like I haven’t done anything story related in hours…I don’t mind it as I’m entertained to the fullest…however I see why some reviews complain about pacing.

The more I do in the open world the more I unlock. There are hour+ long periods where I don’t have any combat. All by choice mind you!

I’m really digging it.

Took me like 5 hours to do the first two chapters doing everything in the open world. I just finished Cosel Del Sol which is chapter 6. Only 14 in the game. I’m on dynamic but game isn’t very difficult. It’s very very very good though. And yes there is a hard more meant to be played in NG+ same as remake. Can’t use items carry over all your stuff. Also from what I’ve seen as I said leaving de sol heading to Corel the open worlds begin to become a little bit less in size which is cool to me. Grasslands and Junon are fricking massive. They way outdid 15 here.

Tifa and Aerith each get two bathing suits “drool”

Highly recommend looking into mini games there. One requires 1st place for time materia another does for a new weapon with Red.

Only thing I’m pretty mid on is the new weapon upgrade system. I like the idea of getting two and later more slots for your character weapon unique abilities but I liked micromanagement of my Mp and shite etc. I don’t hate it but it’s a bit of a bitch.

I do like how you can level up any of the summons you get by fighting in the VR by finding open world stuff. Have Titan and Phoenix at level 4 now. Haven’t found chadley yet outside the Corel open world hope it’s bahaumat or Odin. You also get a fair amount of your novel matirea from vr battle completion. Enemy still for example no spoiler since it’s the first one

Also you’ll find earring accessories eventually with stuff like 20% hp up or 3 star precision block. SQE put a ton of work into this when they could’ve given us the Nintendo route of like 10 years for the same game mostly and charged more for it running on less than a ps3

Thanks for worrying about me. Entire upper Junon March, boat ride, and costel del sol were all sick as frick though

Screw this crap with forcing me to play minigames to receive the artifact outside of Junon. I'm still getting a handle on learning folios and the damn card game and now I'm forced to do this crap to get something I really need?

Bad form, Square. Bad form.

This game is already big enough without having to be forced to learn all the minigames so early. I 100%ed the grasslands region before moving on and I'd like to do so in Junon as well.

Yeah, the fort condor mini game wore out its welcome with me quick.

Just toggle barret and tifa as your heroes. Spam melee and ranged characters until the heroes become available and then send a mob backed up by said heroes to kick the main objectives cracker teeth in. Repeat 3x and enjoy.

Same. Remakes was a lot better. I hate the system and the layout of the upgrades. They changed it just for the sake of change.

I'm about to attempt this tonight. This is mildly discouraging.

ETA: just did it first try with 45 seconds remaining....

Listen, many FF games have very different experiences. There's a good chance you could dislike 15 but really like the 7-remake trilogy. Regardless I'd give Remake-intergrade (part 1 of 3 of the 7 remake trilogy, part 2 is the one that came out today) a try, it's perfection on PC and way better than 15 or 16

Realized last night that FF7 Remake is on PS+ so I downloaded it to my PS5. Played about 2 hours. They mechanics are gonna take some getting used to and the strategy for when to use skills/abilities/switch to other character will be different for me. But I'll give it a good go.

Holy fricking shite not posting anything spoiler wise but Barret/Dyne is by far the best B plot these two games have ever done. Gold Saucer is INSANE they spent at least 20% budget here. The entire empire strikes back give way into focus after it from merry road trip with pals to omg omg we are fricked in very interesting ways fleshed out from og.

Not going to lie though I find their redesign of the weapons extremely underwhelming

Took me till costel del sole to get a solid mastery in queens blood. That and the tournament on the boat over, but don’t bother save scumming there each match you lose can be rematches, anyway there’s an npc in chapter 6 who has 6-7 special unique challenges where you have 5 cards no draws meant to teach you unique aspects and strata to the game. I struggled but you win pretty op cards for each. If you need tips I can provide what I can. One is ensure your deck is very balanced and always open the game with 1 stars that if possible do two things at expand your possible placements including 2 star areas and also bonuses to those in certain places. You get a card eventually that’s 1 star but adds 3 bonus points to the row you win its super helpful.

Titian for instance is two star 6 points combined with the +3 row card and bonuses from other cards along with a few others there you can get to like 20 in one row meaning the other 2 you just have to not allow much. That’s on simply strat

Also anticipate their next move if they have a red pawn beside any of your greens they’re going to steal it. If you have any solid one stars in your hand (the crab is great at this I keep 3 of them it will take that spot with bonuses and disperse Dow one over one and up one over one cutting their row even shorter if they haven’t reached them yet or taking them back if currently red

I'm on chapter 4 and my only real complaint so far is that the ATB gauge of the players you aren't controlling fill up too slowly. That's even with the 10% ATB gauge increase weapon skill.

I also wish that Chadley didn't pop-up on video all of the time after completing a world intel. That is a minor complaint but just give me a voiceover while I continue running around.

Not spoiling when but eventually you’ll get Materia for speed +10 -50% same for each stat. Same for each stat. But yeah imo games not hard enough to need it but you need to constantly switch to fill meters and utilize the two first strike materials I’ve found so far in in chapter 8. Btw below is not a when spoiler I still haven’t seen them just aware of them

These are gotten in VR battles which you won’t be able to do if you haven’t been diligent clearing the required open world rare combat stuff

Yeah, every other map was super easy then this one just went crazy. Trebuchets on the other side o the middle wall is what eventually got me there.

Ahh will give that a try tonight. Haven’t had too much difficulty with the first 3 rounds. Took a couple of L’s on the 4th last night before bed.

Just takes being willing to lose while trying out different things…as it seems the opponent will always use the same move set.

About to cap off Junon region as I finally got access to crows nest. Basically 25 hours in and just met Yuffi.

Small minor complaint…is player movement in open world. It’s fine but it’s clunky. Otherwise exploring has been a blast.

What else….ummm I think I liked the combat in Yuffi DLC the best. I liked its synergy better vs Rebirths. Still do enjoy Rebirths…a lot.

I don’t like the changes to weapon upgrades. Much prefer remakes with the grid. Again…minor complaint.

Kalm and the fishing village have been awesome areas. QB has been fun and just enough of a challenge to keep me thinking.
