BioWare has not been BioWare in over over a decade.
They had one last shot to prove themselves with Veilguard, and they failed utterly.
There's plenty of blame to go around from EA, to the founders for selling out in the first place, to the arrogance of BioWare senior management.

I'm still mad about Anthem. That game was fun as hell...for like 10 hours.

This is actually a favorite topic of mine.
The answer, I assume, is "not much."
Individual contributors consist of a bunch of passionless frickwads that cry under the table if they have to work past 5:10 PM who just follow a script for their day to day tasks and do not deviate in any way whatsoever.
Senior leadership, who add no value, inventing layers of bureaucracy in order to justify their own paychecks.
That said, I hope some of the early work on the new ME gets leaked as I'm interested to know what that game wouldve been like.
