The mass effect game they announced like 6 years ago was only in early development. What exactly do these companies even do at work?

It's a team rotation issue. There isn't a significant permanent "Mass Effect team". There's a small group of people working on pre-production until the rest of the team can rotate around from the last game they were working on to the next game they are working on.

Now, the point of confusion here is that Veilguard released two years ago. The team was supposed to pivot over, but it appears as though they never did. Mass Effect fans had already begun discussing with one another that if nothing tangible came out for this N7 Day, that the community should just consider the game abandoned and the studio closure inevitable. This information being released before N7 Day is intentional, in my opinion.

Not only is it in the game, but it is a mandatory quest that you can't alter the outcome of in any way.

Bioware maybe gone, but memories of top-surgery scars will live on

When striving for inclusivity, why do they always forget to include the core audience of the ip?

Veilguard was not the worst game of all time. It's a 6.75/7 out of 10. It was sort of like a far inferior version of Mass Effect 2 with worse writing/characters.

Just not what you expect from a studio like BioWare though.

There's life in the BioWare IPs if EA is willing to give other studios a shot.

The entire industry is deadline and quota based. They frick off 35 hours and cram half assed work into the last 5 to meet " the standard".

As with most industries, when your head count in charge has no idea about how coding and game design actually work, how can anyone be held accountable?

You wont ever see exxon hiring CEOs with no experience in O&G.

80% of your " daytime gamers" and reddit shitposters are in the coding and software design industry. It's a cesspool, and why so much gets outsourced to get production.

Oh and everyone thinks whatever needs to be done is " someone elses job" or " not in my job description"

Not surprised but still sad to see. Hopefully EA will sell the IPs to a good developer/publisher.
