Texas hasn't had access to Yuengling up until now?

WTF?

I guess I could have used a boring old period, instead.

I don't even particularly care for lagers, but I know lots of people enjoy Yuengling, and since they have resisted Texas releases up until now, it's kind of a big deal.

It's a good cheap beer.
I'm excited.

I remember back in the 70's when I had to go to Texas to buy Coors. I would make trips there when I was married to a Dallas gal and friends would ask me to buy them cases of Coors since you couldn't get it in N.O.

I'd often come back with 15-20 cases of Coors in my truck.

Got my first yeungling from a nittany lion fan tailgating in Happy Valley. Appreciated it more then than i do now.

We got beat pretty good in the game. That place is fricking loud.

My first taste of Yuengling was at my brother-in-laws house several years ago when he had a crawfish boil. He traveled for work and every time he went up north he'd always come back with several cases of Yuengling.

I'm glad they finally got it here in New Orleans and I buy it at the local Rouses cold in the bottles.

I remember back in the late 60's and into the 70's during Mardi Gras a bunch of bikers would descend on St. Bernard Parish from Florida.

The Galloping Gooses had a chapter located in St. Bernard and I'd see them and out of state bikers congregate at the old J&M Grill in Arabi near the RR tracks and catch the Mardi Gras day parade. The owner, Myrtle, had daughters that were either married to, or dating some of the Gooses and they hung out there.

Those out of state guys would talk about getting "Dixiefied" and get stupid drunk on Dixie beer since they couldn't get it in Florida at the time.

Good thing it was at that time instead of in the mid 80's when Dixie did something to their recipe and turned out what I called their "Skunk Beer" that had the taste of Bay St. Louis egg water.

Are you still in the beer industry? A guy I know here in Austin is moving up to PA to work for Yuengling to apparently help out in rolling out in TX.

All good. I still get it every summer for a beach/balcony beer because it's kind of a tradition when we head to Florida.

Similar thing here, will always have appreciation for yuengling because it takes me back to the first time I had it- drinking a tall boy out of a paper bag on the subway on my way to yankee stadium for a game when I was 16 years old or so. Its also a delicious cheap lager. Funny how it still shows up on some restaurant menus as an 'import' for an extra dollar.

I started swilling it on visits to Orange Beach and have many times hauled back 6 to 10 cases. We would get some looks rolling out of the store with a buggy full of nothing but beer.

Since it came to Louisiana, I always have some on hand. It’s good for something light at the end of a session of heavier stuff.

It's the best beer in the $21/case range imo.

This was announced back last fall. Lots of folks like Yuengling and often ask people (my son asked me) to bring some back when we go to Louisiana. Glad it's finally here.
