I didn’t think Primanti Bros sucked. Once you took the fries off the sandwich it was a pretty solid sandwich. It’s definitely not worth the hype it gets. The fries on the sandwich are wholly unnecessary.

Maybe Cincinnati Skyline Chili could give it competition?
Anything else?

Something something truer words. That looks like a bad frozen pizza.

I don't think anyone who lives there is "obsessed" with it. I'm from Pittsburgh, and I agree that the sandwiches are pretty mediocre and bland, especially to a Louisiana palate. Some sort of sauce, similar to a Cane's sauce, would put it over the top.
I've been to the primantis several times and always gotten the steak version of the sandwich. Definitely overrated but it wasn't bad- unless you're trying to count calories

I honestly enjoyed their rediculous sandwiches, but I never ordered the burger.

By far the most overhyped sandwich, ever. I love Pittsburgh but definitely has nothing to do with primanti bros

The story I was told in Picksburgh was they put everything on the sandwich and sold 'em to steel workers as they were heading home.
Basically, the whole meal between two pieces of bread. To a tired steel worker they probably tasted great and imparted some pleasant memories.
I thought they were ok. Nothing to wow but not yuck either. My colleagues never oversold it. Just pointed out it's story and took me for lunch at one.

I'm telling you, it works. I was skeptical at first, but now I love it. It's kinda like when McDonalds had the McDLT back in the day. You have the hot and the cold, and the cheese retains its creaminess and texture rather than melting and caramelizing. Here's a pic of Beto's, which is my best friend's personal favorite..
I will say that people either love it to hate it; there's no "in the middle." I know just as many people that hate it as there are (like me) who love it.
As for Primantis, I don't think it sucks by any means. But if you're from Louisiana, you're gonna think it's bland and mediocre. I never noticed it when I lived there, and always thought they were good, but after moving to Louisiana and refining my palate, now I find them to be incredibly bland. If they seasoned the meat or had a special sauce similar to Cane's sauce, I think it would be 10x better.
