I planned to stop at DeAngelo’s in Prairieville today, but it now has signs on the door saying it’s closed until further notice. Unsurprising, but dang. I have nostalgic love for DeAngelo’s. How did it go downhill so badly?

Shrimp Basket is not good. Had the blackened grouper covered with shrimp ettoufee and it was bland, pan fried (not in any way blackened, and the etouffe has two small shrimp in it. Friend’s fish tacos were over cooked and dry. Won’t be back.

La Contea is going to close. No doubt about it.

La Contea has a fantastic lunch special. The food is pretty good. Their dinner menu is way overpriced though. The lunch has a lot of selections, a good bit of them for $10 with a salad and garlic knots that they don't mind giving extra of. I agree they won't make it with dinner priced where it's at and that location is dead at night.

Great question. At one point in the late 90’s they were expanding into other states. I wanna say Indiana and Colorado, but not sure.

Looks like some shitty sports restaurant is going in that cursed building next to Anton's on Coursey. They'll be gone by next summer.
That place that took over Canefield Tavern will also be gone soon. I swear some of these restaurant owners would be better off just lighting their house on fire. They'd probably save money.

I saw that too. Made the comment that the people should just burn their money

I know it's been discussed but I don't think Provisions will last long. Have been told that they charge $1/glass for ice for the cold drinks.

They couldn’t have picked a worse name: Jordanian Lebanese Cuisine. Especially in a city saturated with established Lebanese chains.

their food was quite good. but pricier then the other nearby Lebanese chains.

I hope not. I takeout pizza from there not infrequently.

It's crazy to me that people open a place like that and fully expect it to succeed. How can someone be so out of touch?

I think it's opening tomorrow. Go ask!

It's the reason restaurants have the highest fail rate.

It's as if they sunk a ton of money in trying to make the place look nice, then forgot they actually had to make appealing dishes.
It has no identity other than them trying to create the most boring menu possible and/or the experience of eating TV dinners or cobbling a bunch of leftovers together to make a meal. (At least when I went) the beer selection was limited to bottles of Coors Light, Miller Light, Bud Light and Corona. I'm not a beer snob by any means, but the gas station up the street has a larger selection. I also asked the waiter if they had draft beer. He had never heard of draft beer and asked "is that like when you pour it from the wall?"
Some of the sandwiches come on what appears to be a hot dog bun.
My wife ordered a sandwich and asked the waiter about the "house chips" listed on the menu, as in were they homemade? Or where they french-fry style potatoes? The response was very candid -- "No. It's just a bag of Lay's like you get a the store."
