What if you do something in the style of Tournament of Champions where there are a few ingredients you must use, ie one particular protein, and one particular vegetable, and one particular spice.

Top 3 from previous challenge each pick one of those ingredients.

Let the ingredients naturally drive the type of cuisine most will make for the challenge.

Also allows for a lot of creativity to use ingredients typically associated with one particular cuisine and apply them to an entirely unrelated cuisine.

Here are some ideas for themes:

"If only Schwegmann's was Still Open"

"Just Got in From a Week's Hunting"

"All That Jazz" jazz brunch style

"To Bean or Not To Bean, That is the Question" chili cook-off

" Now we're Talking: French Acadian Style"

"Say Wat"

mix it up a bit , could turn historic

Have we come to an agreement on how to move forward? If so, What and when?

I'm fine with just general Mexican theme. I was thinking give it through the holidays, and I'll do the submission thread in early January. Then from there, we can discuss, but I agree with others every 3 months is a pretty good idea.

Personally I think it is best to let the winner decide theme/ingredient versus switching to a different style of choosing themes. Gives everyone a chance to get what they want.

Let's do a $50 challenge. Grab the local store's weekly flyer and make a nice meal.

Suggestion: actually put what won in the winners thread?

I agree. Make an entire week the entry window. People may see the entries and want to cook something up after being inspired.

Mexican in January is fine. But since that's so far away. I propose a Thanksgiving spread challenge in November. Maybe best sides or similar.

A poster spends his or her time to create the challenge (ingredient and date). Then he or she creates the submission thread. Then he or she has to create a post with all of the submissions with pictures. Then he or she has to count the votes and post the winner. I do believe us other posters can look back at the submission thread to see what the winner’s entry looked like.

That’s kinda the point

Participation is dying, so we are extending the time.

Reviving this old Thread. It is now the middle of January. Are we going to set a date for the next challenge, or did we already and I missed it??
