Interesting Rose made from Tibouren grapes.

quote:

Dont let the tinted bottle fool you. This wine is pale pink with a hints of cream, cherries, strawberries, with a balaced acidity and dry finish.

The neglected Tibouren grape is re-discovered at Clos Cibonne

Unfiltered Arneis was totally great. Full bodied for a white, lots of lemon, crisp, no funk.

If any of y’all are on Instagram, theres this fantastic wine shop in L.A. called Helen’s Wines. It’s in the back of the restaurant Jon and Vinnys (also awesome) on Fairfax.. and Helen is so passionate about wine. It’s a very good IG follow.

You can order curated boxes from her. It’s never run of the mill wines.

In that same vein Liz Dowty launched No Limit Wine club a few months ago in New Orleans. Check it out.

I’ve been surprised at the hard Italian lean this thread has.

Italian wine is sublime as is French wine.

Napa did it to themselves with the big fruit bombs. They do seem to be backing away from those a bit.

That said, I am definitely more of an old world wine person and Italian wines are my absolute favorite along with a good Burgundy.

Don't get me wrong. Many Italian wines about 50 years ago (looking at you Chianti in the wicker covered bottles) were absolute shite and way overproduced. Italy really tightened things up and has been leading the way along with France in quality over quantity for quite some time now and the end product shows the result of those efforts.

Had a nice weekend in Pass Christian started off with a 16 Cote Rotie then for the main event opened up a 14 year Beaucastle CDP. Nothing like a trip down the Rhône after a tough LSU loss. Ignore the merlot glass, host glass game was weak.

Picked up 2 bottles of Hess Allomi Cabernet today at Costco. Lady from Sonoma said it’s a steal at $28 and the reviews seems to indicate it’s a well liked wine. Will open tomorrow and report

I like Produttori wines a lot. This one's just ok, too young, but I need to clear out some stuff.

Couple of Sicilians I like. May be closer to $30 retail. Either way, look for something in that Etna region

Susucaru Rosso.. made up mostly of Nerello Mascalese

Lamoresca Nerocapitano Rosso .. 100% frappato grapes

I just had one last night. Renieri Rosso di Montalcino. Smooth but don't eat something that will over power the vino baw

I scooped up the Unanime Pinot Noir. I'm pretty interested to see how that turns out. Haven't tried a Pinot from South America before and can't even find a rating anywhere.
