California fricks the country again
IRWINDALE, CA – One man’s hot sauce is another man’s hell. The city of Irwindale, California has filed a lawsuit asking for Huy Fong Foods to cease production of its iconic Sriracha sauce after residents complained that smells emanating from the factory have caused them physical harm and driven them from their homes.

Only the seed stock is grown in Louisiana. Tabasco gets their peppers from their farms in Latin America.
I actually meant for the fermentation process. But, good to know.

Has nothing to do with the factory. They are having a pepper shortage because they have shite relationships with growers. No peppers = no sauce.

My daughter was in Houston for a concert last weekend, and brought back a bottle from an Asian market there. Happy to have a fresh bottle now. But I will echo what others have said, the Tabasco version is really good. Might be their best product, alongside the Chipotle sauce.
ETA the Tabasco Sweet & Spicy sauce is really good as well.

Some experts say that Huy Fong’s shortage is partially a consequence of climate change
Global warming killed Sriracha!

The supplier, Underwood Farms has come out with their own version and it’s great

Dude, I’m not one to lead the climate change charge but are you fricking serious?
You point to a falling out from SIX YEARS ago as your smoking gun of proof of having little to do with recent events, even though the problem emerged last year, was reported to little fanfare, and only now inventory is squeezed?
Come on man, have some intellectual integrity.

Tabasco sriracha is a reasonable substitute but not nearly as good
It just has that Tabasco aftertaste

huge problem for my household. wife love sriracha and is fricking depressed about this lol.
weve tried probably 10 different brands and nothings the same.
we were at a viet restaurant yesterday and every table had a bottle of Huy Fong. if she wasnt with me i would of straight up asked the dude where hes getting his from, but she was too embarrassed.

I bought 2 bottles for $46 on Ebay.
Gonna roll up in the Vietnamese restaurant next week pouring it on my Banh MI and Bun in front of everyone. Charging $2 a squirt.

Read the whole story linked, you lazy frick you.
The article goes on to make a strong argument for faulty supplier relationships as the biggest cause.

Just move the plant to Houston. If anyone complains about the smell they’ll be told to pound sand, it’s probably better than the usual smells.
