Friends,

I have sampled thousands of sno-balls in my life. This summer, in an effort to make a Top 10 sno-balls list for you, I have sampled on average two each day. Some days, I had over ten! This summer’s pilgrimage is coming to a close as I polish off that list, which I hope will be the most comprehensive sno-ball tour ever attempted. I hope you will share with me your favorite location that sells sno-balls as well as what flavor or kind you get. I would hate to miss a certain top 10 worthy one.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Friend,

I regret to inform you that Mr. Rizan died last month. I remember once getting a snoball there and the condensed milk they served out of a bowl, spooning it beautifully over the ice like Jacques Pepin did with a veloute over a fillet of sea bass. Do you have a favorite Chalmette snoball still available?

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Latoya banned tours in NOLA.

Assuming the same ice texture from a snowizard, they all taste the same to me. As such, I judge based on atmosphere. My favorite place was always Sal's, but it had to be late on a hot summer night. I enjoyed the drive out to Old Metairie with my wife and sitting on the logs/stumps to enjoy a snoball.

Alas, I am an outlier. I do not fancy sno-balls, as I generally try to refrain from imbibing 135 grams of sugar in a sitting.

Uncle would drive me into Harahan get a snoball at Droopy's. Sadly the matriarch, Mrs Lana, passed away in 2014 & the shop closed down shortly thereafter. She was a wonderful woman. You may remember her passing the donation basket around every Sunday at St Rita Church for 40 years.

Hansen's no doubt, so many flavors I still haven't tried
They do call in orders due to COVID and have it ready for you.
We've brought them back from New Orleans to Baton Rouge and they offered to give us a ice chest to bring back on our next visit

Wow. Grew up a few blocks away on Corinne and loved this place. Not the friendliest or fastest of folks, but their chocolate was the goat.

Whatever place is closest to me when I want one is the best.

The 3 I go to the most are:

1) The one on Harrison Ave by Velvet Cactus because I can walk there

2) Pandora on Carrollton

3) Sal’s on Metairie Rd by Bonnabel
