We once thought it was BYOB, and boy were they impressed (with our choices from across the street). We just laughed it off though. No snooty waitress is going to spoil our evening. Hell, we didn’t know.

As a side, who else serves good French Onion soup in the BR/NOLA areas?

I don't know about that side of things, but they damn sure aren't in a hurry with anything they do.

Pioneer woman has a very good recipe, not quick but pretty easy as you get most of the onion browning done in the oven.....unfortunately the last time I made it I got sick with the stomach bug and even though I know it did not make me sick I can not to,erase the smell

At dinner with my mom once, she ordered a french dip with no onions. It was loud in the place, they looked at her with a mixture of confusion and disgust and came out 20 minutes later with a bowl of french onion soup angrily claiming to have done their best
hilarity ensued

I made a killer one using oxtails for the base.
Interesting. I have used a lot of oxtails over the years when making vegetable/beef soup for the base. Will have to give this a try.
I use a rich homemade beef stock when making mine, but beef bones are getting rare as hen's teeth with so few real butcher shops now in service.

FOS is La Divina's most popular soup and it is really good, however the Tomato Basil is my favorite.
