Splash of water usually. If it is a cheaper whiskey I may mix with coke on a hot day.

Also in an old fashion.

Sometimes neat, sometimes with a splash of water, sometimes with 1 cube of ice.

Try it neat, then a splash of water, then rocks. Drink it the way you like best.

I might steer away from mixing the higher priced stuff, but again, drink it the way you like it - the maker does not care.

On the rocks was my go to for years when younger. Switched to G&T and now whiskey kicks my arse. Kinda miss it.

Neat or neat w/ 2-3 drops of water. For cocktails Ive been loving a Red Derby lately but a Manhattan is my goto.

My expensive bourbon ($35 ) i'll usually drink it over ice and let it sit for a minute for the ice to melt a bit.

My cheaper, Old Charter, Jim Beam, etc., I fill up a big ol cup with ice, couple shots of bourbon, water, splash of sprite on top to give a little fizz.

Depends on the occasion. Second option is usually my longer drinking day type of drink.

Over ice and a splash of 7. I like the citrus addition and the carbonation.

I’ve been drinking Four Roses Single Barrel for about 3 years as my primary bourbon.

I try each neat, on rocks, and with a splash of water. I let what I like determine how I drink it.

ETA: For most, I prefer neat.

I've gotten in more arguments, had more anger issues----generally turned into a drunk I personally detest being around, so I quit drinking whiskey. I can drink the clear liquors and stick mainly to vodka and rum, but like some gin or tequila for a change, and NEVER get to the point I reached when drinking whiskey.

Sounds like you’re describing me.

Heavy base rocks glass chilled in the refrigerator, remove glass and pour in about 4 ounces of whiskey.

Currently working on a bottle of Old Forester 1910 93 proof that I received as a Father's Day present. Don't know much about it but I like it. I will admit that I do not have a very refined sense of taste.

For me, those 55-60% alcohol whiskies burn a little too much. I find a splash of ice water helps bring out the flavors and reduce the burn.
