Looking for opinions on George Dickel 9 year single barrel. Local store had it there today. Almost pulled the trigger, but never had it before and looking for some expert opinions.

Is there any way to sample that one? In general, Dickel isn’t for everyone. A single barrel makes it even tougher seeing as it could be super mineral-tasting or more traditional. Most vendors that sell single barrel bottles should be able to hook you up with a sample and you can figure out right then and there if it’s for you or not.

Dickel is polarizing. There's a mineral note that some really dislike, but I enjoy the 15 yr and bottled in bond bottles.

Glad you like it! I've been trying to spread the word on that one. It's the most unique bottle I've got. I can see how it wouldn't be for everyone, but I happen to think it's delicious.

It’s crazy complex. On the nose it’s like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, with vanilla, and a faint floral note. Also getting some oak and tobacco, maybe a hint of smoke.

That's a good description. It's not a pour you'd ever have to include in blind tastings. It's so distinct.
I'd be really interested in trying other whiskeys finished in amburana barrels.
