Merry Christmas, men.

It's been a doozy of a year in the boudini house. Looking forward to 2026.

The eagle rare and Blantons seems to be getting back to more normal semi-allocated bottles from what I’ve been seeing……

I got an electric OF glass smoker from a cousin today. Eagerly looking forward to testing it out tonight. Maybe do something with the Bookers.

So what does that mean it’s a really good bourbon

Been holding on to a bottle of Blantons for a while now and finally decided to open it up last.

I have found it to be HIGHLY overrated. It's just an original single barrel so I'm not making a judgement on any their other options. Adding just a dash of water to "cut" it, which I never or rarely do, makes it seem like I've lit a match to the pour. Mash bill # 2/higher rye content so it makes since. I'm not a rye fan so I knew going in that it would be spicier, just didn't think it would quite as spicy as it is.

Eagle Rare, on the other hand, I find to be very smooth regardless of whether I choose to drink it neat or add a splash of water. I could bathe in ER especially for the price.

ER >>> Blanton's all day. Especially for the price which is usually double an ER. Best bottle for around $40 you can semi-easily find IMO.

IMO, Blanton's tends to vary more from bottle to bottle than Eagle Rare in regards to whether I like it. I've had a bottle of Blanton's that was better than $200 bottles. I've also had a bottle of Blanton's that I didn't like as much as $20 bottles.

I've had some variations in Eagle Rare, with some more cherry flavors, etc. But none that I would say I don't like, which has happened multiple times with Blanton's.

Speaking of Blantons, the Rouses on Airline and Highland in BR had a bottle sitting out on the shelf today for $75. Picked it up because it had a horse topper the wife was still looking for.

5 down 3 to go

This is crazy to me. A $35-45 bottle of bardstown, Penelope or green River is better than blantons. You’re buying 8 bottles of way overpriced bourbon for a plastic horse and letter?
