1.) The toppers are metal, not plastic.
2.) Yes, it's a legit feat to actually collect them in the field
3.) I agree with you that Blanton's has never hit the mark for me either. I'll take any of the ones you listed 10 times out of 10 compared to Blantons, but damnit I have 5 unopened bottles of it on the shelf just trying to collect the damned toppers.

I have bottles from all 3 of those at my house, multiples of Bardstown and Penelope in my collection
My wife and I enjoy many different types of bourbon, and she happens to really enjoy BT products so it’s fun for her to try and collect them.

I've had those before. Really not bad at all.
Martin's is one of my go-to. They sometimes get some i teresting bottles and interesting store-picks. Just this week my local one (Granger, IN) had three different batches of Bookers all at $90/ea. Also had store picks of EC Private Selection that I got one Rye and one "normal" for like $74/ea.

Two new additions for us from Preservation Distillery. Next week I will see their Old Man Winter barrel strength bottles. All of these are currently hitting Louisiana.

Just randomly found a bottle of Pappy 12y in a random liquor store here in town. They've got it marked for $999 but said they were willing to negotiate.
They've got a bottle of Taylor Single Barrel too. Thinking of offering them $999 but only for both.

Honestly, you may as well light your money of fire. EH Taylor single barrel is a crap shoot and Pappy 12 Lot B is widely held as not good. If you are collecting then maybe it would be worth it to you.

That's me. A buddy and I will do tastings where we'll run through quarter ounce pours of 6 of 10 different bourbons once or twice a month, but neither of us are just drinkers. We like to collect and sample. I'll take pictures of our next go at it.
