Looking for opinions. The girlfriend has decided that she wants to try bourbon. Do I do the right thing, and give her something reasonable like Weller 12? Or should I give her some Stagg Jr and make sure she never looks at my stash again?

Do the right thing and let her have something she might actually like.

Try Michters American Whiskey it's the closest I have ever gotten to Mrs. SMS actually liking whiskey.

EC18 for $150 - yes or no?

ETA - the above relates to possibly buying - not to selling.

I say yes. I paid $141 with tax in Baton Rouge. I saw a guy trying to sell one for $225 on FB so $150 is fair.

I paid $124 Friday in BR. Itching to open it but I want to save it for the proper occasion.

Prepaid

Now what fun would that be

150 is fair for it I think. Can't say if it's worth 150 but if you have it and you want it then get it and enjoy

I second NOLA on the Angel's Envy. Their bourbon and rye are the only whiskies my fiance will drink other than VWFRR.

Tonight's side by side...Lagavulin distillers edition vs the regular 16year. Both are 16 year...and I paid less for the distillers edition. Seems reversed...

Edit: my findings...I think both are great but I prefer the Distilers edition. A little richer in flavor with that same smoke. Makes sense being its out into sherry barrels to finish it off.

I'm ok on it. I describe it as a metallic/peaty finish which is not pleasant like the Lagavulin

Stick to Speysides

I really don't enjoy the smoky/peaty scotches

Someone is selling 2 oz samples of all 10 4 roses mashbills for $75 including shipping on one of those fb groups. This is a really solid deal if you haven't gotten to try all ten yet.
