So my preference for the pours:

Evan Williams, it was flat,
Jim beam
Rip van winkl, better than I was expecting
Booker's Rye

Let me say that all were good pours...

That Booker's Rye was like Stagg and Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye had a baby. It was seriously that good.

Thanks to BSOBR for setting up the tasting. Thanks to Wickowick for donating the bottle of ORVW 10. And thanks to SMS for the pour of Knob Creek 2001.

Bookers Rye is excellent. It's grown on me quite a bit.

My starter lineup for tonight. Almost through the it..

How is that Aquistapaces SAOS? I'm thinking about making a run to Covington.

How about a Martins Metairie for a BR Bourbon society event? I can help set something up

That would be called a Bourbon Society of Metry meeting.

Yeah technically that's not BR. I'm not opposed to it. I would have a hard time getting my BR crowd there other than a few of our super serious members.

Oh and here's our awesome flight.

If you decide you want one I could drop it off while I'm in BR Saturday morning.

The pours did not disappoint last night, that Booker's Rye was legit.

Thanks to BSoBR again for a nice night.

Special thanks to Wick for the ORVW.

From my perspective... but I always seem to be an outlier.

Using the SMS patented basketball scoring:
Taste: The intensity of the taste. 40 pts possible
Finish: The quality of the finish. 30 pts possible
Complexity: How complex was the flavor: 20 pts possible
Nose: Different aromas. 10 pts possible.

Jim beam 71 (31,22,12,6)
ORVW 67 (28,18,15,6)
Booker's Rye 54 (24,13,12,5) (I was not a fan... I know.. "Shut up SMS you have no idea what you are talking about"...)
Evan Williams 49 (22,10,12,5) (Had an off putting finish. Almost unpleasant)

In the spirit of the upcoming Olympic Games I would score as follows:

Booker's Rye 9.476
ORVW 10 squat bottle 8.977
Jim Beam PX Distillers Masterpiece 8.312
Evan Williams jug 1971 4.152

I would definitely show up for something there.

I'd love to make it to Baton Rouge for one of these tastings. Its just hard to make it there on a weekday.

That lineup looks like it was seriously legit. I'm jealous. Would've even done the initiation shot of LA1 for a chance at that lineup.

My ranking would be really close to this...

So many things... It would take several posts just to scratch the surface.
