They did have some bottles of Rhetoric 22yr for $169 (750ml). How off is that? Is that what people are paying retail?
Also, first store to find WLW Antique. They want $39 (750ml) for it. Is that also jacked up?
I was in the expensive-but-super-convenient shop next door to my office (in Austin) yesterday. They have a Rhetoric 22 behind the glass and I *think* the guy was asking $149, but he rattled off a handful of them pretty quickly. I think their EHTSB was $75? The had some Weller Antique for $34, but last time I picked one up it was $28. Sounds like your store may be 10-15% higher across the board than mine?
I picked up a Rhetoric 22 from TotalWine for $99 but I think that was a TOTAL fluke. Their website let me buy it online at 9:30am and pick it up after work. I told a co-worker a few hours later but they had already listed it as sold-out by then. Probably the best deal I'll find for a long while!

Yeah those are all slightly higher than retail. I could live with paying $34 for weller antique, but I'd be leaving the rest of those on the shelf.

That Aquistipaces pick was great, and I've enjoyed all of Jamie's picks. Need to try the new one, but my all time favorite is this McScrooges pick.

Got this recipe from high hat. Super refreshing
2 oz Bourbon (they infuse it with tea - drop a black tea bag in the bourbon for 10 minutes)
1 oz Steens Cane Syrup
1 oz Lemon Juice
***shake***
Over ice
Splash of soda
Mint Garnish
(Luxardo) Cherry Garnish

Say donk, that tasty drink have a name ?
Posted on 8/5/16 at 9:17 pm to TexasSinger
On their menu it's called Cecil's Cocktial.
It's sort of got an iced tea kind of theme, but it's pretty much like the perfect balance. I was looking for a bourbon cocktail that wasn't all booze, like a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned.
This one doesn't taste strong, but it'll sneak up on you. It's half bourbon, but you'd never know it just by tasting it.

I want to say goody goody had it for $120-130. The one on 1960 had 4 bottles last time I was in, but this was probably 3-4 weeks ago.

Not sure, they had cases of it when I was there in March. There is a 121 proof that's excellent as well and plenty of 4r picks. There were at least 4 other proofs, and they let you sample them in the store.
