Crescent City at least is a decent value proposition with a neat actual old school steakhouse feeling atmosphere.
I’m kinda over Charlie’s. I used to dig it, but the last couple of times I’ve been there, I’ve thought there’s a dozen places where I could have paid basically the same and gotten a much better steak, without feeling like I was eating in my grandma’s house.

My favorite is Brasa. The original is on Metairie Road, but second location is on Canal, across from Caesar’s.
Both are fantastic. It’s an Argentine style steakhouse, but not the kind with guys walking around with swords full of cheap cuts.
The one on Canal has a more upscale atmosphere.

With a group, definitely Doris. If you are by yourself, the bar at Dickie Brennan’s.

Galatoire's is the GOAT. I think it's better than any of the steakhouses, and that's not a knock on them. It's just that there's is perfect.

I would go to Galatoire’s and get a steak and soufflé potatoes with bernaise sauce.
^ what he said.

Desi Vegas or Doris Metropolitan are our choices.

I’m a Mr John’s fan.

Charlie's steakhouse has always been solid.
That could be the absolute worst steak in the city.

Doris would be my overall choice but Desi Vega and Dickie Brennan’s are very good if you want a more traditional steakhouse. I used to love Mr John’s but I had disappointing experience there a few months ago

I would vote for Dickie Brennan's. I don't go to NO for steak, but, if I am going to eat steak in NO and I am staying in the FQ or near Canal, I am going to DB's.

An interesting twist is the Sugar Steak at Dookie Chase.

Wouldn’t go that far on Charlie’s, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone going out of their way to eat there. Just an old school neighborhood steak place.

Where to get a good steak in NOLA
Not a steakhouse, but Antoine's has a great filet mignon oscar style (I understand that not everyone wants a filet when ordering steak).
If that's not what you are seeking, it's hard to beat Mr. John's and Doris Metropolitian.

Mr. John’s is my go-to but recently went to Chophouse and it was damn good

Still here, but went to Dickie Brennans and it was great. Glad I'm walking back to the hotel. Thanks for all the advice!
