Like many have said here, It's all the same ingredients, same recipes

That's not true at all. Well the menu items may be the all the same.but the ingredients can very widely along especially with the quality

Best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to was a literal hole in the wall in Mishawaka Indiana last year. You could tell everything was a step above, even if the surroundings itself was nothing special

Some of the most disgusting food I've ever had. Potato chunks do not belong mixed in with the meat on a taco or burrito.

El Paso on Sherwood near Coursey, they even have whole fried fish. The jalapeño sauce is a good extra. I also second Luna Cocina if you sit on the roof top.

Mestizos

Mestizos is not Tex Mex, Its Cajun Mexican fusion Food is top notch though, and the prices reflect that.

Haven't been in a few years and I remember it being pricy. Can't imagine how much it is now lol.

I liked Blue Corn for a while, but every visit, the food and service went downhill fast. Besides Mestizo, every other place I know light as well be a chain. They all have the same menu, same dishes, we went someplace a month ago, I couldn't tell you the name or where it was.

Tex-Mex gets boring quickly, there isn't a single Scoville unit at any of them.

Tio Javis is still better than any of the cookie cutter places like El Paso

Do you know what Picadillo is? It is a staple Texas Mexican dish..... it is ground beef with potatoes... It was one of the greatest tacos i have every eaten at Henrys.

My favorite salsa is from Superior
My favorite queso is from La Carreta
Like you said all the entrees are mostly the same
Go to superior for the margaritas and atmosphere

I have to disagree with you, give me the best prime rib eye, grilled to perfection every night for a week and I'll be begging for some red beans by day 8.

Not everyone agrees with me, my wife could eat rotisserie chicken every night for the rest of her life and she would be happy. I am not one of those people, I need a constant variety. Come to think of it, how the hell have I been married for 56 years?

La Carreta has super tiny potatoes in their ground beef (or used to - I haven't been in years), and I always loved it.

If you ever decide to give them another try, I would go to the Denham location. The servers are usually very attentive and the kitchen is fast.

Oh yes, I was made aware of that years ago. If it's a staple, then why have I never run across it anywhere else? And I've had Tex Mex all over the country..
