This “Karens” shite has jumped the shark. I thought Karen wanted us to keep social distancing for 8 more months. Make up your minds

I think it’s the Karyns that want 8 more months. But I may have gotten it backwards.

But our numbers are still 12k+ for the metro area, which is nothing to just dismiss. Sit still, let the numbers continue to drop, and we can then ease into the new normal (whatever that might be) once we're at a point where we are no longer flirting with a second spike that undermines the waiting we've done thus far.

How do you propose people who don’t have jobs where working from home is possible continue being able to pay their home mortgage??

Being able to bike by the Lakefront/Trace and being able to stop for food and a drink would be a pretty good step change compared to where we're sitting today.

Read my subsequent post. I'm not mad at all. I just don't understand why social distancing on a restaurant patio with no server is any better than eating on your own back porch.

That's a legit question.
But you have changed the tenor and substance of your original post.

Because no one on here acts like a jackass sometimes.

To the point, I agree some restaurants' outdoor areas are quite nice, but I would imagine many have nicer back porches. I'll phrase it in a more direct (non-jackassery) manner: for those that want so desperately to go eat on a restaurant patio, is it because you have no nice outdoor sitting area at your own home? If not, what is it?

Again, I don't get the allure of sitting six feet away from someone with no table service just to say "hey I dined out."

I didn't get the allure either. Till on of our breweries announced they would be opening their patio and calling out pizza orders while selling beers to go....I never visited the place that much, but that sounds amazing right now

It’s simply about a return to normalcy, even if it’s just minor things

My family likes to ride our bikes to the local bakery down the road, order some coffee and a pastry, and sit on their patio and enjoy nice mornings

We haven’t been able to do that, and while it’s a very minor thing, it would be a simple sign of some normalcy returning to our lives. Our 7 year old is very excited about it.

It’s not that complicated.

I guess we just have to wait on the guidance/social distancing requirements that will be in place, and also see what rules restaurants themselves decide to impose.

If it will be fairly normal patio seating, just with short order service, sounds great.

If it will be not allowing groups to sit together that aren't parents/children, making everyone sit extreme amounts of space apart, etc., sounds a lot less great. And based on some restaurants that currently don't even allow you to get out of your car even though walk-up takeout is allowed.. don't think some restaurants won't make some extreme rules.

I wouldn't even be surprised if places with patios that are basically indoors (WalkOns, Superior, etc.) don't open them up and only allow parking lot tent style seating until we move into the next phase.

I can see why OP has zero desire to do parking lot "socially distanced" dining. I can see why anyone would want to do regular patio dining.

Well this doesn’t sound like a shite show or anything Although on second thought, this is exactly how short order spots work. So I guess it might be okay if there's not a mass amount of people hovering over occupied tables.

I still can't wrap my head around this is going to work out with the outdoor stuff, but it's going to be fun to help them "figure" it out.

One of the bars I go to has a small patio with not many tables. They are going to open up this weekend. There are lots of regulars who are going to want to be there, especially with the weather this weekend.

Probably going to spill over into the parking lot.
