I drink a lot of wine, but the best bottle I've ever had I couldn't even name.
I just know it was at a restaurant in Florence, Italy and the sommelier recommended it. For 10 days between Rome, Florence, and Venice we probably consumed 3-4 dozen bottles in our group. Most were very good, this one was remarkable.
I remember a gold lion's head on the label

After I was told I was cancer free, my mom brought over a few bottles of Jordan cab and a few rib-eyes. It's the best wine I ever remember having

Gonna preface this by saying I'm not a huge Pinot fan.....But, in 2007 a friend opened 1997 Etude Carneros Heirloom Pinot to celebrate our kids graduating from high school. To this day it is the best bottle of wine I have ever had.

LMAO.....Boone's Farm probably holds the record for puke puddles and dead brain cells caused by cheap wine.
My year was 1973 .... decorating for senior prom and snuck in a bottle of strawberry and apple..

For about $35/bottle, it is still a HELL of a wine. Not that vintage of course...

I agree that setting and company play a big part in my wine enjoyment. Current “best bottle” is probably a Cabri etichetta bianca....a very limited production sparkling...small vineyard in Campania, it shouldn’t produce sparkling wine, but the female winemaker coaxes it along. Absolutely delicious. Probably won’t ever get it again.

We did this exact trip except we stopped in Sienna and stayed 2 nights in San Gimingnano. Awesome trip and such good wine.

A 20-year old bottle of Graham's Vintage Port 1985. Unbelievably complex; flavors of cherry, tobacco, vanilla, pepper. That bottle stands out among all the other wine I've ever drank.

It is. That's a great bottle. We drank like a case of it at the lake last time.

Can't remember the year or the brand but it was a Barolo at Commander's Palace

In 1996 my wife and I went to Paris on our honeymoon. Just down the street from our hotel was a little wine shop that sold local vintages. We decided to pick one at random that sold for 3 francs (about 60 cents at the time). We took it back to our hotel and sat in the lobby and drank it. It was the best wine I have ever had.

I have had more good wines than I can remember, but my favorite wine that I have ever had was from Chile ????.
It was not long after the devastating earthquake that struck Chile in the last decade. Most of their vineyards and wineries were destroyed and one winemaker cobbled together an obscure blend of varietals from several wineries that could be salvaged. IIRC twelve different varietals were blended into a wine and the proceeds were to go the the relief efforts.
It was a really delicious wine that I really enjoyed but I don’t know if the wines story or the fact the it would never be made again was what made it so memorable.
The label I think was Casa Du Maul. The vintage 2008.

Romeo Cabernet Sauvignon from Beau Vigne. Small little winery in Napa. Never had anything that even compares to how good it was.

I can tell you the most prestigious bottle of wine I ever had. I still have the bottle. It was a 1970 Chateau Haut Brion. 1st growth Bordeaux are considered by many to be the best wines in the world and this is the only one of those I have ever had. It was about 30 years ago and I probably didn't have enough experience with wine back then to fully appreciate it. We just got back from 10 days in Tuscany and were drinking great wines every day and night. I am not going to say they were THE best but they were way up there. I remember having a Gervey Chambertain at a restaurant in Paris that was spectacular.
