SeaSmoke

You had a Pinot. They don't make a Cab.

And their Pinot is awesome.

I’ve been fortunate to taste a lot of great wines - I work in the wine industry - but the most memorable wine I’ve had was in 2003. I was a rep for Mondavi and we sold Opus One. Earned a trip to Napa and they treated us to the 1994 vintage while sitting atop the winery at sundown.

I’ve been lucky to take part in many wonderful tastings, including first growth Bordeaux, Napa Cab vertical tastings, Super Tuscan, South American reds but I will never forget that late afternoon at Opus.

The wife and I traveled through Italy for two weeks in 2012. Other than some trips to Napa/Sonoma, we’re not big in to wine but we drank a ton on the trip. We end our trip in Florence and find a little wine shop to grab a few bottles to bring back. We asked the guy for one of his favorites and he went strait for a 60-70 euro bottle. He said “this is once in a lifetime bottle. Don’t even share it with family” I thought he was just upselling some local crap, but figured, why the hell not.

We ended up taking his advice and opened the bottle after our first kid was born. It was a 2010 Il Marroneto Brunello that was amazing and perfect for the occasion.

I’m not a wine drinker, so this would be my recommendation for people who normally don’t drink wine. This was very tasty.

i have 2 huge jap plum trees, a friend in town makes wine I give him the couple hundred pounds of fruit we dont need he gives me a bottle or 2 of wine a year.

I syphon it into jugs.

When done I bring the bottle back and trade it for a full one. Thats just how trashy I am, you wine snobs prolly dont approve but it is delicous and well worth the trade.
