Obviously, every dish we try doesn't turn out 100%. Turkey turned out a little dry this year. Flavor was good, but very dry.

I've made some side dishes and such in the past that after trying I didn't both bringing to Thanksgiving/Christmas.

Forgot to turn the crock pot on that held the corn casserole.

Very fortunate that was the only misstep.

Had thermometer in breast too shallow. Showed to be done..... but wasn't. I sliced anyway and put in a pan in oven while broccoli casserole finished. Ended up ok, but pissed me off.

Timing was our problem. Cooked a perfect turkey and rib roast. Kept the turkey in warming drawer while waiting for other dishes and guests to show up. Drier than it was when it first came out. Didn't keep the beef warm so as not to overcook, and it was cold by the time I ate it.

Years ago, I made a sweet potato casserole with orange juice and bananas that was highly rated. It sucked but I put it out anyway thinking someone else may like it. I didn’t see anyone take more than one bite except the chickens we fed the scraps too.

My MIL made mac and cheese barely had any cheese/sauce in it. This is normal when she cooks anything with pasta though. She always overestimates the amount of pasta and just dumps all of it together so it’s not “wasted.”

Many years ago, a girlfriend and I made a post-Thanksgiving turkey-carcass stock gumbo.

We both had ideas and kept adding stuff to it. It had a ridiculously expensive amount of crab, oysters, shrimp, etc in it before we were done,

I ate it in and kept my mouth shut, but it was one of the worst gumbos I ever had. Not sure where it went off the rails, but I think it was a case of too many cooks in the kitchen. Either of us, alone, would have done fine, but together it was awful.

The relationship also turned out shitty. We had some fun, but it ended up as terrible as that gumbo.

Smoking a turkey in a brinkman charcoal smoker. Cold front came through, and it was in the 20's when I woke up thanksgiving morning to smoke it. That bird didn't get smoked that year.

My aunt bought a pre-cooked and pre-sliced honey baked ham. She put it in the crockpot-----FOR 8 HOURS.

I thought it tasted like tender, brown-sugar beef jerky.

Sweet potatoes and cherry casserole. It turned into sweet potato and cherry soup.

My sis-in-law bought one of those hams this year. All it needed was a gentle warming.

My wife overheard their father tell her, “That ham needs to cook for 4 hours.” No idea why he thought that. Sis-in-law dutifully boiled the life out of it in the crockpot all afternoon.

It sounds like this is a popular way to ruin a ham.

One year for xmas I put the prime rib in the oven at 500 to crust it up and was gonna turn it down to go slow and low. I passed out. It was super crusty after an hour and a half.

Came out medium well and crunchy AF.

Several years ago, bought a Stuffed Turducken. When I went to pick it up, mine was the only box with a name on it. (buddy owned a restaurant who made it). Turns out, mine was about 10lbs bigger than the others. I cooked for time on box, under cooked by about 2 hours! Rest of dinner was ready, so we at sides, then a few hours later, had the rest of the meal. Later when I saw my buddy, he said he forgot to tell me to add 10 pounds to the weight for cooking calculation!
