I went to Zuppardos today to buy some cheap salad oives and the label I was looking for was no where to be found.

It was a yellow label. My first thoughts were Zaterains or Rex, but those don't seem to fit.

Any ideas what happened to that brand? I'm getting old and can't remember the name.

BTW, I didn't see it listed as a Reilly Foods brand.

Some Zatarain's products have become increasingly difficult to find, including olives. They have been owned by McCormick since 2003, and they may be downsizing the brand slowly.

Yeah, I guess it is Zat's. Why the shortage? They used to occupy at least a half a set of shelves.

I don't think it's a shortage. I think they discontinued them.

Standard grocery stores didn't have fresh olive/antipasti bars like they do now. Why get a jar of those when you can get them "fresh", stuffed with feta/blue cheese, etc.?

I get the icks looking at an olive bar. It’s the same olives dumped out of the jar into open containers They just look gross. I stuff my own blue cheese olives when I have the urge to have them.

I haven't seen them around for awhile. They were good and affordable.

Google says they were not discontinued. Maybe Zuppardos stopped selling them to drive more purchases of higher priced alternatives in the store.

I haven't seen them at the three different stores that I frequent, in quite some time. All three are AG stores, though. Not sure if that has any bearing on it.

what kind of container do you think those “fresh” olives arrived at the store in?

Checked the Zatarain's website.

No olive products listed.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. What is the point of these things? Exposing food to open air and peoples disgusting hands, then carrying it home in a shitty plastic container instead of the glass jar a few aisles over is somehow an improvement?

Ye Old Homestead out of StFrancosville?

Absolutely the greatest pickles ever and I’d kill for their recipe. They went out of business according to their website I believe.
