It’s completely unacceptable for any place selling itself as a Louisiana “seafood house” to even think of slinging out that crap.
First, off I agree. It’s one thing if it’s some BS place in Kansas selling it, it’s completely different if it’s a Louisiana seafood restaurant in Louisiana trying to sell that shite.
But an issue now is that places have been selling that garbage for so long that a bunch of people don’t even know what real catfish tastes like. They finally go somewhere that has real catfish and then complain that the catfish tastes “too fishy.”

Elsie’s Plate and PIe along with their fried Okra.
They really know how to fry things there.

Cork's has good catfish.
Cork’s serves pangasius fish from Vietnam which is why I’ll never eat there again. They are very deceptive in calling it Cork’s Cajun fried fish which gives the illusion it’s domestic.

Matherne’s fried catfish is a sleeper pick for best in BTR.

I like Off The Hook’s catfish. They have it listed as catfish on the menu so I’m assuming it’s real catfish

Elsie's isn't known for it, but they truly have some of the best fried fish and shrimp in BR.

If not, the state might be making them a little visit

Middendorfs. It is worth the short drive.

Vietnamese catfish are fed with Vietnamese poop. I ain't eating that.

Parrain's thin cut is my favorite by far. Middendorf's is second.

I cannot imagine why anyone would buy imported frozen fish. Yuck. I guess landlocked state residences don’t have options, but it is a sin here in Louisiana.

Honestly Baton Rouge’s fried catfish options are so weak
