My question about Olive Garden is WHY? There must be 25 locally owned places in BR that are cheaper and much tastier food. I don't get it.

Agree. You can't even quote "not everyone wants to have a 5 star meal" or whatever it is people use to defend crappy chains because we have plenty of casual Italian places in BR. Hell, I'd probably respect Olive Garden a lot more if it was the same food but in cafeteria style setup for half the price.

The faux nice Italian decor and prices on par with local Italian spots makes it a big WHY? for me too.

You've had bad food there? What was it and what was wrong with it?

It's probably been 10 years since I've been to a Chili's so pardon me if I can't tell you exactly what I got from there, but I've been several times (in my youth) and I've never had a meal there that I enjoyed.

Buc-ees, I take that brisket sandwich and eat it in a nice, clean stall, then top it off with some buc-ee nuts and taffy.

This is like a foreign language. I never venture there and didn't take Maritime.

We picked up steaks at lonestar last year during covid. My wife and I's steak was cooked perfectly and delicious. with apps and sides it only came to 65 dollars.

Well worth it.

Rarely eat at Chili's, though at times when in Carlsbad for work and feel like only walking from my hotel, it's right there.

Can't overthink it. Couple top shelf ritas, and for some reason I find the heavy lime salsa with those salted chips addicting.

I like to get the burger with the fried onion strings, cooked medium, or get the three way app platter with boneless wings, tenders and the SW egg rolls. I don't venture beyond that.

Man I just can never relate to this, though I know a lot of people do. Even when I'm in an area where my hotel is surrounded by chains, I'll Uber or drive out to somewhere I found online.

I've actually been to a couple of cool spots in Carlsbad. That's a nice area.

I guess define "nice". The lack of moisture/water and lack of trees higher than 5 feet kind of bums me out.

Lucky Bull and Yellow Brix in Carlsbad are great. I especially like Lucky Bull's green chili grits. They're fantastic.

But sometimes I just want to walk a block and back.
