I always say I'm going to try something different but always end up ordering Kung pao chicken.

Always kung pao but it's very hard to find a good one. I'm often left disappointed.

Place near my house has a great lunch special.

cup of soup (hout & sour or egg drop)
Egg Roll
Entree dish
Side of fried rice

it is wonderful. Chicken is always well done. Lots of sauce, but the batter is fried well so there is still a decent light crunch to it.

I also don't understand the love for double spicy chicken. May just be me, but I want my chicken having a sauce

Typically some sort of Chicken but I change it up between Sesame, Orange, Kung Pao, Sweet & Sour, etc.

I had pretty much given up Chinese Buffets but have started going with a group at work about once/month. Quality is good and I'll get much more of a variety there.

Sounds like the place near my office - Chen Express. I go there once or twice a month.

Mongolian Beef is my go to usually. Really like Szechuan chicken every now and then as well.

Yep . One over in Crestline Village is where I go. I had forgotten about it for a while, but it is always solid.

Still love my Red Pearl, but Chen Express is right up there too.

General Tso
Beef and broccoli

When I am sick, the only thing I want to eat is egg drop soup. I swear that shite is magical. When I get better, it doesn't taste as good.

ETA: I know it sounds childish but I just can't bring myself to order a pu pu platter.

I can't stand egg drop. Give me some good hot and sour soup though, drop in a little hit of sweet & sour sauce and I'm in heaven.

I guess technically the one by my office is Chen Express II in Cahaba Heights. It's about the best lunch value around me, but if you get it to go you don't get the soup.

Yea both are really solid. That's odd about the soup. Been years since I've gotten it to go there, but I thought they had the soup in a little container.

You can get soup to go, just not with the lunch special at the one here. I've never gotten it to go though, just saw where the menu says dine-in special.
