Lemon fish steaks paneed served over pasta with a lemon butter sauce. There may have been a fried soft shell crab involved, but now I can't remember. It was a one time special at Tunk's, and I could not have been more surprised or pleased.

12 oz ribeye from Sullivan's. Of all the steak places I've eaten- that was the best steak ever.

I don't post often, but I felt compelled to join in.

About 2008, I dined on a tasting menu at Citronelle in Washington DC. It has since closed in 2012 due to a flood and Chef Michel Richard passed in 2016. But this dish was unreal.

It came in a caviar tin and when you opened the lid, it looked exactly like caviar. I almost returned it because it was not my order. But in reality it was small piece of squid ink pasta packed tightly on top of butter poached lobster in hollandaise and a lightly cooked fried egg. So rich and delicious.

Obviously it was great that I am still talking about it 10 years later.

Wood ducks are my favorite food.

I Take the backs and smother them in onions/ trinity into a gravy. take the bones out.

Take the rest and cook them on a Weber grill with the coals to the side. Rub with Slap Yo Mama, some kosher salt.

Have rice and gravy and devour the smoke/grilled.

That's living in high cotton.

I've been lucky to have eaten a lot of great food throughout my life. Hard to pick which was the best I've ever had. The most memorable for me was on the beach in Licata, Sicily. Two guys had caught a bunch of fresh anchovies and had grabbed some sea urchins. One guy was filleting the anchovies and serving them raw with a drizzle of that thick Sicilian olive oil. The other guy was cooking on a camp stove, making pasta ricci di mare. Sea urchin roe, with a little bit of garlic, olive oil, chili and a splash of seawater over some pasta. Both were phenomenal. Again, the location may have to do a lot with the experience.

Peking Duck at Frank Fats in Sacramento. They serve it with homemade Hoisin, Sliced Scallions and steamed buns. Also bring out a caddy with various sauces... hot mustard, red chili, sweet n sour. The crispy skin and fatty meat are just perfection.

My late grandmothers tapioca pudding. She would only make it on special occasions. I could eat a gallon in one setting. Damn I miss her and the pudding.

I went hunting/camping for a few days. I was basically running on MREs. after 4 days in I killed a doe and I hadnt really eaten much of anything that day. I took her tenderloins out and spitted them over a fire. Rare. Holy crap that was good

Had a similar deer camp experience. Lived on Vienna sausages, Beanie Weenies, sardines, and the like for a few days while sleeping in a tent. A guy put a deer roast on a smoker. That meat with white bread was like heaven.
